The app was complete 11/1, but ACT score didn't get sent in until about 2 weeks ago. A week after the ACT score went in, the web site showed a decision was made. The Congrats envelope arrived 2-3 days later. The ACT score may have tipped the scales.

Accepted to college of engineering.
4.0 GPA, 380vSAT, 720mSAT, 560wSAT, 9eSAT, rank 13/243.

Seriously, they really look take gpa as 2/3 of decision. They probably thought my 380vSAT was unique. HAHA. But I'm in!

"killer" math score and rank! Congrats!

Dude, seriously, how could you have got such a low score in CR. You seem intelligent enough in your posts and clearly with that GPA. You either really didn't give a **** or had a bet with a friend.

I really tried on the CR. I just couldn't understand any of the stories nor knew what any of the vocabulary meant. I am really bad at comprehending, but I am working on that now.

Congratulations on you admission! Now that you are admitted, please do work on improving your reading comprehension and vocabulary. Almost everything you will study in college will require it. Spend some time each day reading. Start with topics you are familiar with and then expand into areas less familiar. The following site has some basic ideas on how to approach improving one's comprehension and vocabulary:

A little work and diligenct each day can go a long way. Good luck to you!

Not sure why people note out of state, as my understanding is it doesn't matter. Yes?

Karp4170, thanks for the site. I will definately use it. I have started reading novels for a while now, but I still can't understand everything that I read. I am hoping to improve by a lot before I go to PSU next year.

Maybe get a collection of short stories. Choose ones that you have some familiarity with the topic. They might be less frustrating and give you a basis to gain more confidence. Then go to ones with less familiar topics. May I suggest posting something on the parents' forum. There seem to be several parents that have education backgrounds there that might be able to give you some additional ideas on how to pursue improving your skills.

Has anyone been offered a merit scholarship in the acceptance letter? It seems to me that PSU is not very generous with these.
