Any one help me,please !!!

I 've just been living in America for precisely 1 year, since Dec 2003.I did not learn much English back in Vietnam;thus, I have been struggling with it.
Due to a test I took when I first came,I was not put in ESL. But I dont think sheltered classes I took are much different.
I did not know well about the system, so I took (accidentally) 1 AP :Physics. And I got 5's in all three of the AP tests :Physics B, Physics C Mech, and Physics C E&M.
My SAT scores: SAT1 1st time:600V,740M oct 2004
2nd time:610V,800M dec 2004
SAT2 1st time:490W,800M2C,800Physics.
2nd time:610W.
I am wonderring if I should take SAT2 Chem in Jan 2005(I registered). Will a score of 780 help ?
My GPA is 4.1 weighted, maybe 3.9.. unweighted. But I took easy classes last year, and it is valued based on only 1 year.
I am taking 4 APs: Bio,Chem,GOvernment, Cal AB(I will take the BC test)
2 honor ones in English and history.
I dont have any extra-curri act,and joining an ethnic club in my school.
My recommendations are excellent, but I am not so sure about my essays(I do my app online, there are limits about space),guess just average.
I am applying to : 1 state school,my choice of safety.
3 universities of California: Berkeley,LA,DAvis.
5 private schools:HArvard,MIT,Caltech,Stanford,Cornell.
I apply for either engineering major or the astronomy one for each school.
What is my chance for the private school ?(if at all)
Some one help me to evaluate.

your entire application needs to reiterate the fact that you have language issues and that you are math/science focused. If i were you i'd do something interesting and perhaps argue against the way the college application system currently works in the U.S. ie. that a broad distribution of academic prowess is regarded highly. Look anywhere else in the world (just take England as an example) and high school students specialize by the time they're 15. Argue, probably rightly so looking at your AP Physics scores, that you will be a tremendously successfull physisist so who gives a damn about your sat II writing score and the fact that you havn't mastered the english language, you speak the universal language of physics fluently.

For the SAT IIs, most colleges take the writing, math, and one other score iinto consideration. The writing score is pretty good considering that you have been here for only one year.

Thank you for your encouraging words,TimR.

I find it terrifying that someone who moved hear a year ago from Vietnam can score better than 3/4 of American high school seniors on SAT II writing

isn't american great =)

thank you TimR and yemaya. But I dont know how the college evaluators of those private schools will look at my apps. How does my chance looks like ?

I think you are doing great. You are good at math and science, and I think it clearly shows.

so, you mean I have good chances ?
Am I a good candidate for Harvard or Stanford or MIT ?

any one ?any one ?

you have good stats but maybe if you could get your wis and cha up to around 19 or 20, well, then youd be set.

can gbusche say a little more clearly? I dont understand.

anyone?anyone?

anyone ????????

anyone ??????

twitb:

Assuming you are a California resident,

UCB: Slight Reach
UCLA: Slight Reach
UCD: Safe Match
Harvard: Reach
MIT: Reach
Caltech: Reach
Stanford: Reach
Cornell: Slight Reach

Thank you flopsy

I had never thought I had that much chance.
