As a current senior and international applicant (Asian male,chinese highschool), My sat’s(2 times) superscore is 2190(CR 710,M800),superscore(2210), descent SAT2 scores(800 M2,800 Physics),toefl(109), 3 AP done and currently is taking 4,activities include awards in HIMCM modeling contese, ICM mathematical modeling, NOI regional awards, NSDA debate(a little achievement), business simulation contest, plan to study Math(Stats) and Computer science, what is my chance for programs like Ross, SUMAC, PROMYS, Mathcamp in maths, SSP, Clarks scholars, Garcia in science;CMU SAMS,Upenn MT,Cornell’s for pre-collegiate experience and Yale Young Global Scholars/TASP? I’m only familiar with SUMaC and PROMYS. Both programs will give you a math test during the admissions process, which is the single most important item in your application. “Most” students in these programs enjoy math competitions and have had exposure to ‘recreational mathematics’ outside of the standard school curriculum. The programs value curiosity and out-of-the-box thinking, much more so than the ability to apply formulas you have memorized.
You should plan to pay for the program fees out of pocket, since financial aid is usually limited to US citizens.
