I know how much of a crapshoot college admissions are, but…I’d still like people's opinions. The schools I’m looking at are:

Super-reach:
Brown University

Reach:
Swarthmore College

Semi-reach:
Oberlin College
Vassar (either here or above)

Semi-safe:
Macalaster College (legacy)
Bard College

I’ve got pretty decent grades (Mostly A’s, a couple of A-'s and B+’s), my unweighted GPA comes out to something like 3.8 or 3.9. With weighted GPA my class rank is 19 out of 500, unweighted I’m 3. All of my classes are IB classes, I got a 4 on the World History exam, expecting 2-4s on my IB Math and Physics SL tests, and possibly a four on my AP English lit test. Next year I'll take AP Calc BC, AP French, IB Psych SL, IB English HL, IB History HL, and IB French HL.

On my SATs I got 770M 740CR 800W, and I was in the 99 percentile for the PSATs, so I'm looking to be at least a national merit semifinalist.

I’m in National Honor Society and National French Honor Society. I’ve been News editor for the school paper the last two years, next year I’m going to be editor-in-chief. I’m captain of the swim team, and I’ve played cello outside of school for 7 years. I’m in school orchestra and an orchestra where I take lessons. I’ve been on the cross country team for the last three years, though probably not next year.

I’m active at my church – I help out at services with various things, and I’m active with the national church. Last summer I went to Mississippi to do relief work, and I’m doing so again this year.

Finally, I’m active with the political group Students for a Democratic society, both with my local chapter and with the national organization. I don’t have a title with that, but I’m pretty active.

So the question is: what do you think of my chances getting in at any of these places? Any suggestions? Thanks.
