Any Opinions on My Chances?

I will have taken a total of 10 honors classes and 6 APs by graduation. Its pretty much the most challenging schedule that can be taken at my school.

I havent taken the SAT II yet, but my practice scores tell me I am around mid to high 700s for Math II, US History, and Chemistry.

I haven't made up my mind whether I want to apply ED or RD, but I would appreciate if you could tell me my chances for both.

I will apply most likely as a Chem Eng. major. I may double major in Econ but I will at least do a minor in it.

2. Junior Statesman of America Summer School at Georgetown University (12)

I am a pretty good writer so I think my essays will be pretty good. I am confident in my recommendations, and I am good with interviews as well. I know my SAT I scores are a bit low but will solid SAT II scores pick up my app a little bit? Please be honest...

Thanks a lot. Tell me if you need anything else.

What college/major?

You are an exceedingly interesting candidate, at least in my estimation. I’m not sure if you stand a good chance of gaining entry - I’m really quite new to this site and not very knowledgeable when it comes to the college admittance process. However, I will say that from what I can tell your credentials are impeccable.

You have to tell me more about founding your JSA chapter! I’m literally right in the middle of founding my own chapter of JSA at my school and any advice/support you might be able to lend me would be so appreciated!

I also think you have a number of really interesting things to talk about in your essay. Pursuing a sport like baseball or helping your father with a company seem to lend themselves well to becoming essay topics.

Then again, it looks like you will be applying to the engineering school, and from what I’ve heard that is enormously competetive. Don’t take my word for it - once again, I’m the new guy here, but you may find yourself facing stiff(er) competition than if you specialized in the arts and sciences. But that’s no reason not to try. Heck, I’m a junior right now with a fairly poor GPA (at least by Ivy standards), but I’m going to try my hardest to raise that GPA and do as much as I possibly can to stand out from the crowd. I’m confident that with hard work and patience, and perhaps a little luck, I can make it into top schools of my choice. And if I don’t make it into Cornell, well, the beauty of the American higher education system is there are so many fine institutions willing to take me.

That was my little rant. Sorry.
Good luck!

Hammurabi, thanks a lot for the help.

If you need any help directly from JSA, they will be more than happy to help you. They have an entire committee dedicated to helping schools start local chapters. And they are really good with communication so even if you just send them an email, they’ll get back to you. If you have any other questions, just message me by clicking on my name.

And I think I’m decent with composing essays, especially when I’m talking about myself lol, so I hope that will help me out.

But are there any takes on whether 3 solid SAT II scores will pick up the slack for average SAT I scores? Especially since I’m thinking about Chem Engineering, will mid to high 700s (possibly even an 800) in both Math IIC and Chemistry help me out a bit?

As long as you do well on your SAT II science and math, I think you’ll have a good shot.
