I just sent my application. 53 days to go for a response! I'm just relieved the whole thing is in someone else's hands now. SAT's done, app done, now just have to keep stellar senior grades.
Who else is applying?

I’m applying and it’s probably where I’m going if I’m accepted. Debating whether to do ED…

Yay I’d definitely apply ED if financing your education has been thought through, and you’re 100% sure W&M is where you want to be! Though, I may be a bit bias to give advice given I’m applying ED haha

My parents are yelling at me not to worry about money because they will deal with it. W&M is one of the schools where I feel the money would be worth it. My mom’s the type who is like “You will go to the college you want. I don’t care what it costs. My dad held me back, I will not hold you back.”

I’m afraid I might not stand out as much in the RD group but with my supplement (two funny stories that my best friend says show exactly who I am), I might stand out some more in the small group of ED. Academically, I’m supposedly around the middle but I’m not trusting estimates on something like this. Plus, I don’t have my SAT scores back to know if I upped them enough…

Your parents are very supportive! Are you in state or out of state? if you’re instate, the money will definitely be worth it.
Your supplement sounds great! ED definitely helps you stand out more, and certainly helps in admission because of that! I’m kind of in the same situation, being in the middle academically, so I’m hoping ED will help a lot. Did you take october SATs? Scores come out the 24th, before the deadline.

I am in state thankfully. Otherwise, I’d never be comfortable with trying. And I am hoping my saving graces will be my story in my commonapp essay, my supplement (i.e. my personality), and the fact that I’m a Governor’s School student. I don’t have a very good set of ECs due to not being at all athletic (practically the only ECs at my school) and not having transportation. I also live in the middle of nowhere so there are no real community service opportunities if I don’t go somewhere else and I can’t drive and with my parents’ schedules, they can’t ever take me anywhere.

Also, I am against volunteering to get credit for it. I’d rather do something to make a difference than to record it and put it down for some organization to judge me on. I do have community service things I forgot to include on my commonapp (which is locked now due to my not understanding it) because I didn’t think about them as it’s not a big deal to me. I love things like fundraisers to build a gym and playground at an elementary school and I don’t do it to get community service hours like so many people do. I do it because I want to help these kids. If I had more opportunities to help kids and I had transportation, I’d sure as hell be trying to help. I just don’t have the opportunities where I am.

@SerenityJade, if you left anything off your application you feel is prudent to include, you can send an email to admission@wm.edu and provide that information.

Additionally, rest assured we take your school and regional context into account so if you’re in say a rural area where ECs are hard to come by or offered in fewer quantities we understand that. If you don’t have transportation to and from ECs you can let us know that. However, keep in mind you don’t have to be an athlete to ve involved. You could be involved in the arts, or student government, or academic competitions like mock trial or MUN or cultural organizations or service as you mentioned. So there are lots of ways to be involved and we value all of them.

The only non sports activities I know of at my school are NHS which I was inducted into but have a hard time attending meetings for, Beta which I’m against because of the religious aspect (it kinda makes me uncomfortable), and Student Council which I cannot attend. And, like I said, I never have transportation to go anywhere so doing things outside of school is difficult.

HERE! I am wating for the results of the SAT test of oct. I hope I get what I want. BTW, i want know that if the WM willing to accept the score of Nov.

I’m waiting for october scores too!! For ED, they cannot accept the november scores, but for regular decision they can! Which deadline are you applying for?

Hello! I’m a definite W&M hopeful, haha. I just submitted my ED app yesterday. I live in Virginia Beach, so my goal was to submit it before the power blinked due to Sandy. I succeeded! haha.

I’m Katie, by the way. :)

Hi Katie! I’m Sara (probably could have guessed from my username, oh but I don’t play soccer, believe it or not!) Yay, so exciting congratulations! Was the storm bad where you are? We had no school today and none tomorrow either, but there’s no major flooding or anything where I am in MA.

December could not come fast enough! hopefully we’ll both be a part of W&M class of 2017!

I submitted my application yesterday! RD though because of finances.

I just submitted my application two days ago! Ahh this is so nerve wracking!

Yayy yes it’s so nerve wracking. I just think about the fact they could be reading my app right now, and contemplating whether I should be admitted or rejected. And less than a month till we find out sooo… Ahhh. Are you guys from Virginia or OOS?

I’m OOS! Haha Long Island actually! I applied ED cause I wasn’t too sure if I’ll get in RD!

I’m OOS too from MA. I know same here. I really hope ED helps. I also know FOR SURE it’s my very favorite school. How is everything with the storm there?! I hope you guys are getting power back & don’t have too much damage!

My son Brian just applied ED yesterday and has already has received confirmation of receipt of his application. He’s in state and lives about 4 hours away. He looked at a lot of colleges, but has completely fallen in love with W&M. It’ll be a nervous month for us as we await word.

from W&M admissions Facebook- “Good morning! First day of Early Decision committee. So excited to select the first members of the Class of 2017! #wm2017”

Ohmygoshhhh. That’s scary I’m hoping for us all :)

that’s so nerve wracking!! Everything in my app is at w&m except my transcript >.< dammit that hurricane!
