Any other EA acceptees receiving a flood of mail from Gtown?

After being accepted EA, every week it seems I get a new letter from Gtwon from a specific department or college campus group. It's all really nice in a ploy to advertise their school, but I would really much rather appreciate ONE personalized letter rather than 30 copies (even the signature was blown up and digitalized...). Maybe I'm just bitter because I didn't get the Christmas card. But those letters are soooo vague and it seems like every college has whatever program they are advertising.

yes!! it seems like every other day i get a letter or email

I’ve gotten two letters in my last two sets of mail (Saturday and yesterday). I guess they just want to be fresh in our minds as we consider offers from other schools in the next month or so.

No mail flood compares to the Washington University deluge before application time. I didn’t apply there specifically because of their never-ending spam.

I don’t get spammed but got 3 letters within a week all saying basically nothing.

^^^WUSTL must have wiped out a few square miles of rain forest trying to get me to apply!

As for Gtown, I’ve only gotten 2-3 letters since getting accepted, but I have gotten quite a few emails.

I’ve gotten a handful of emails and another handful of letters. They want us bad now, I suppose — we had to win their favor, but now we have the upper hand! I’m just waiting for my financial package…!

I think the letters are nice and we welcome them. It’s smart on their part. The letters are well-written, well-received, and achieve their presumed purpose in keeping GU fresh in our hearts as we wait for 4/1.

Haha, I take my previous comment back, I just received 3 letters in the mail today.

Are you guys going to attend the Financial Aid chat? lol

nah why attend? I’ll just wait for them to mail me a transcript of the unabridged chat from that night…

I’ve been getting quite a few letters and invitations to chat and such… but the worst is my sister. She went there, and she keeps pestering me on little things. Lately she has dropped off a bit, but come April I know she’ll be e-mailing me something every day about Gtown…

I keep getting invitations to those online chats but whenever I try to make an account it doesn’t work and there are no chats that appear under “upcoming chats”. Makes me feel like it’s confirming my decision not to attend (though of course that wouldn’t ever be the main reason).

nstar, were you trying this at the scheduled time of the chats? There wouldn’t be anything under “upcoming chats” until a few minutes before it started.

Yeah, it was actually during the chat time (and I knew about the time zone differences, don’t worry). It happened during both of the chats I tried to enter–the recent financial aid one and some other one a few weeks ago I think. It was weird, but I wasn’t really too bothered by it. My computer freaks out sometimes and does strange things like this, so I’m willing to bet it was no fault of Georgetown’s and I don’t hold it against them. Ah well, c’est la vie sometimes.

Some of us would like to have this problem…Maybe after April 1st we will!!!

S has received letters from Georgetown since his EA acceptance in December.

What we’d most like to see at this point is his financial aid award! He really wants to go to Georgetown, but for three months now he hasn’t been able to really picture himself there because of the uncertain financial aid.

I would love to receive a flood of mail from gtown too…

HS09Parent,

I am totally in the same position. All the letters are meaningless- they need to give aid.
Otherwise, I am heading to William and Mary.

BAP91, with UVA and W&M acceptances now in hand (Echols & Monroe), one of them will be where my son ends up, if finaid packages don’t work out at the private colleges.

But he really really likes G’town…even without a schedule conflict next weekend, we wouldn’t have let him go to the EA students weekend without a feasible finaid package in hand.
