Any other ED girls?

Thanks so much, Bustles! I'm really stressing out over which teachers to choose. Hope your interview went well!

Good to know! I'm planning on including one from my photo teacher.:)

Haha me too, fhg!

Is four or five too many?

Well there is no guarantee that they'll look at all of them or even your entire application cover-to-cover.

I have my Barnard interview this week! So nervous...but I'm looking forward to it.:)

fhg, just enjoy your time there and be yourself. Best to you!

Just got back from my second visit to campus. Applying there ED for sure! So thrilled. Good luck to everyone!

fhg, i just had my interview last week. i was super nervous, but all went well. the alum who interviewed me was really nice and talkative. it was more of a conversation than her asking questions and me answering. im sure you'll do well!

do the academic teacher recs have to be from different subjects? it doesnt specify, although the website does say they need to be from an 11th or 12th grade teacher. I was thinking of getting mine from gov and history.....

I'm pretty sure that they do have to be different subjects, but I can't remember where I read that so I could be mistaken.

I think I read that too. I'd go with different subjects just to be safe...

I also think it just makes sense to get recs from teachers of different subject areas in order to get a broader picture of you and your capabilities. The most important thing, though, will be that the teacher you ask to write a rec knows you very well and will write a positive rec for you.

is anyone else doing their interview with dean fondiller?

Nope, I'm having an alumni interview. Mine's today though!

I had mine a week or so ago with an alum.

So I guess I shouldn't get both a history and gov. teacher because they are both fall under social studies? Its just that I think my gov teacher would write a better rec than my english teacher would (which is my second choice if I can't ask government).

I have a question...for my supplemental rec do I just add an extra teacher on the “School Forms” page on the Common App site?

mishka1, what is your anticipated major? If it's poli-sci or something like that, having recs from history and gov't won't be so bad. But I would encourage you to also find a math or science and/or english teacher who can write one for you...it just makes sense to me to try to have recs from a variety of teachers. Also, be sure there are no requirements about who you get to write recs...I have not done this in a while and have not reviewed the admissions requirements lately.

Barnard ED!!!
sending it out in two weeks- waiting for tomorrows sat results !
good luck everyone :)

churchmusicmom, I would like to major in history and political science. Also, I am getting a supplemental letter (not a formal recommendation) from my journalism teacher, who has had me for 6 classes in high school. I will call the admissions office and ask them, but what would you suggest? Thanks!
