Any other good places to apply to that aren't past deadline yet?

I need more matches/safeties on my list because I have none and I fear getting royally screwed.

Yes, it wil be a good idea, have you applied to grinnel...maybe if you can tell your stats, it will be better for everyone to add hi or her two pence...

OMG stop! You don't need more schools. You wouldn't want to go to any safeties anyway and you can def get into one of your 10 schools! Geez =)

hahaha my friend applied to like 30, there is ALWAYS room.

30? Really? That is... such overkill. Had I not gotten into Princeton, I would have been applying to 4 more, TOPS. Probably more like 3.

I think 12 is towards the maximum. If you apply to more than that using the Common App. I heard you're screwed. They keep a database of the people who use the common, and if they feel you're unreasonable (applying excessively to too many colleges) then most of the schools will reject you. You'll be seen as an immature candidate who who isn't serious about college, and didn't take the time to research which colleges are different, which appeal to you specifically, and such...

Edit: Legend, don't worry. You're a great applicant, and you'll be fine!

I'm glad I only have two schools on common, but it feels like that's invasion of privacy. Why should it matter to them if we like different schools. For example, I like both brown and columbia although their curriculum requirements are extreme opposites. Would they look at something like that and discredit me? I don't think that's fair.

We've also discussed this with the Ivies; like if they share lists or not, which also seems wrong to me. Why can't a top student apply to all top schools?

Heya Zant!!

Sure, anyone can apply to the top schools, but even if you applied to ALL the ivies, it would still be only 7 schools. Anyone can love both Brown and Columbia (and Princeton :)) but when you add Yale and Dartmouth and Cornell and Harvard and.. to the list, it starts looking ridiculous, because surely you can separate them - they're all so different (location, major, environments, student body, professors...)
I personally think 30 schools is overstretching it.
But I also agree with you on the personal privacy-violation issue...

Yeah, I definitely think 30 is stretching it. A lot. I agree with those who have said you really need to be able to narrow your choices down. I was planning on applying to 9-10 more had I not got into Princeton, but even with that I felt like it was too much. However, the moolah is coming from his/her pocket, so if (s)he wants it, go for it hehe.

I applied to 11.

I applied to 7. I was aiming for 10 all summer and it was hard to narrow them down to only 10 but in the end I like my list.

whoa even 7 is quite a bit. i mean there only a few places that I really really desire to be. i applied to 4 originally but my mother made me apply to Amherst, so 5 total.

I applied to 11 but I decided that I am not gonna send my money to one of my commonapp schools (decided I really didn't like it) so in the end I am applying to 10.

I applied to 5
Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Cornell and Williams.

Yes I am crazy.

wow....those are all reach schools for most kids....u must be quite the applicant....cornell seems like the least selective of the bunch, but its still a gamble...u never know....or DO u, lol....hmmm, are u not sharing something? :)
