As I'm sure all of you know, NW is very well known for its Medill School of Journalism, so I was just curious to see if there were any other applicants here on CC.

If you are applying, what drew you to Medill? Is it your top choice?

Hello! I also applied to Medill and I am anxiously awaiting the decision. It’s only a matter of weeks now! Back in my freshman year, I realized I wanted to be a journalist, and ever since then, Northwestern has been the goal. I am drawn to the impressive Journalism Residency Program. Also, my cousin attended Northwestern and absolutely loved it. I am interested in a few other colleges and if I don’t get into Northwestern, I would be fine with going to them, but Northwestern fulfills everything I want in a school like no other school does. It is definitely my top choice. Is it your top choice as well? I heard that Northwestern notified applicants on March 25 last year, so here’s to hoping that it will be that soon this year as opposed to the “by mid-April” that their website says. Good luck to all!

I would say its in my top three I’ve known about Medill since I was like 12 years old, and everything about it just sounds so amazing. I’ve heard that it is harder to get into than the other schools at NW though. I hope the decisions come out early this year too! I’m tired of waiting. Good luck!

As a current Medill student, please feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the school! Although, chells319 might know more about it than me :)

I’m one haha. Northwestern is my number #1 and while I’m not expecting to get in, it would be absolutely incredible if I did.

I’m right there with you sylbub93!

Northwestern is my number one too! I’m an aspiring journalist and I plan on double-majoring in Journalism at Medill and Polisci at Weinberg. My friend is a freshman at Medill right now and he’s just in love with everything it has to offer, even though he’s had a rough quarter. Based on research and the experiences he’s told me about, I’ve been in love. I put a little extra love in my supplement and also did an interview, so I hope they see how eager I am and accept me.

Does anyone know if you can be accepted into the school of Arts and Sciences and then transfer into Medill if you are denied from Medill like the way it is at Syrcause w/Newhouse, or it is just a flat out denial?

If you are rejected from Medill, you are rejected from the university period. If that is what you are asking sylbub93. I had applied to Medill ED to be part of class of 2015, and I got rejected, so therefore I was rejected from the university as a whole. You can transfer to Medill later from another college in your sophmore year, but only at the start of the fall quarter.

Exactly what I wanted to know, thanks!
