Dunno what you guys are talking about. I saw tons of non-asians on Admit Day…and current students (those with those pins?). I was so sad when the food court didn’t open until 9:30…

Seriously? Does it really matter? I think this thread is ridiculous. If you are looking for what “kinds of people” are going to this school, race is the wrong question to ask. Your ethnicity does not determine your personality type.

^I agree.

I know, but that’s race. Just because some certain people have the same skin color doesn’t mean they’re of the same ethnicity. You wouldn’t go to Germany and say “Hey look, French people”.

To clear up any descriptancies I’m not racist. I started this thead as a joke b/c of all the criticism UCSD gets for having nothing but asians. So before I’m slandered as a racist I would like to state that if I offended anyone I’m sorry. No one is slandering the guy that made the Korean thread.

I’m pretty sure if you told a French person that they were German, they would slap you.
Anyways, we really shouldn’t let race play a factor in determining anything. I remember taking the CAT6 once and it defined every single person living on an Asian continent, but listed everyone else as “white.” Some of the other “white” people were extremely ****ed off. Likewise, it’s the same in this thread.

I didn’t say you were racist, I’m just stating the difference between race and ethnicity. And at my high school, a lot of the students were born in the area with their parents being born in the area. At UCSD, you have kids (or their parents) that are from all sorts of different countries, speaking all sorts of different languages, and from all sorts of cultural backgrounds. So to me, UCSD seems diverse in that respect. Needless to say, you obviously can’t generalize people based on race or ethnicity. Even though I’m white and went to a predominantly white high school, I’d say I’m on average more alike the people here.
