I'm currently at UCSD. I just got accepted to UCLA, and now I'm waiting on Berkeley.

If I get into both schools, I'll have a very, very tough decision ahead of me. I applied knowing that I had the option of staying at UCSD, whether I be accepted or not. I love it here in La Jolla. I've made great friends, the weather is beautiful, campus life isn't as dead as people make it out to be, and the academics are top notch. Plus, the opportunities for anyone majoring in science (like me) are boundless (internships, research, volunteer opportunities, lab work, etc).

Anyway, my GPA wasn't all that impressive, but I had great essays and extra curriculars to make up for it. I was wondering if anyone was in the same boat as me (having second thoughts about leaving their current UC).

oh ok, yeah i heard uc to uc transfers were harder than cc to uc transfer but damn i didn't realize it was this much harder endersgame must have had a really kickass app

Guyy i feel for you man. I am also from uci but i'm a first year student and i wanna get the heck out of irvine. Just can't stand the quiet city with no social life. I would like to know your stats if that's okay. Anyone who got accepted or rejected doing a UC to UC transfer, PLEASE leave your stats. I ask because i wanna apply to UCLA in November. I am going into Physiological Science major with a gpa approx 3.65-3.75. I'll be done with pre req. i have good EC including work. Please leave any helpful info that you have if you are/not transferring from UC to UC. sorry to hear that Guyy.

maybe he's humble?

you wont be able to find too many 2nd or even 3rd years with the ECs i had though. i was depending on that and apparently it didnt work. im not gonna appeal, unless i get into cal.

i expected ucla to reject me cuz i didnt complete pre reqs( i knew i should have applied for an easy major).

3.5 biomedical engineering major
applied for bioengineering; alt- chemical engineering
all pre reqs done for chemE, but not for bioE.
over a year of undergrad research
over a year of clinical experience
some clubs

yeah i think he's probably humble, lol congrats to him though. i finished all the prereqs and well i really don't know what i could have done, i guess ucla just hates me

h2soccer, i got rejected from UCLA for 3rd year transfer from UCSD
stats were 3.8 overall UCSD gpa, high 3.9s if you include my community college classes i took over the summer etc..
provost honors award for 2 years at ucsd every single quarter,
college honors award
national collegiate scholar association member
vp of a club on campus

but if you plan on transfering DO IT ASAP first year, i have a friend who did UCSD TO UCLA first year, got in, i heard it's much easier because they only look at ur hs grades (maybe some college i'm assuming) and ur treated as a transfer = easier than freshmen apply

omfg. i'm freaking out right now. i'm biomedical engineering at uci right now(first year) by the time i transfer my gpa will be 3.7. guyy i can't belive you got rejected.kwlaznkid how the heck were you rejected? you had an amazing gpa. god now i'm freaking out. i really need to gtfo out of irvine. can't stand uci.

KwlAznKid: We both haven't heard yet, but I have a really good feeling that we will both get into SD. Something changed on both of our sites, and it now says were incoming students, although we haven't received anything yet lol..

h2soccergod:
Mine well I have 3.3 gpa from SB/ Psych major
bf: 3.47 gpa SB fall 2007, but his gpa went up to a 3.60 from winter grades/ Computer Science major

You guys will be surprised. I applied with a 3.4 GPA, though there is a very, VERY distinct positive trend since my freshman year. I'm involved in various organizations on campus (mostly those that focus on getting into medical school), and I've had continuous research experience at a cancer center since my freshman year. I also participated in two quarter-long workshops aimed at building leadership, confidence, public speaking, etc. Though, I think that my essays were what got me in. I had my friend proof-read them and he was basically blown away.

Anyway, I just hope that I serve as some sort of an example to show that you don't need an insane GPA to get into UCLA! Show them that you're a hard worker, not only in academics but in extra curricular activities as well, be honest and open in your essays, and you'll get in.
