My son was accepted to UCSD's Sixth College as a Literature/Writing major. Would love to get some feedback from any current Literature/Writing majors about the program at UCSD. Also, any one else accpted as a Literature/Writing major? I am a UCSD alum myself, but my degree is in Mechanical Engineering from Warren College so this is uncharted territory for me.

I’m not a writing major, but I have taken a few classes in that department for fun. I think the program here is really stellar. The three lower division requirements (fiction, nonfiction, and poetry) have a huge lecture, but then break the students into “workshop” groups (of less than 10 students) to closely bond with other writers and peer edit/ bounce ideas off each other, etc. They also have something on campus called the new writers’ series. Throughout the year, I think every week, different writers come to UCSD to give a reading of their work, answer questions, etc. This is free and fun.
