Just curious. I’m starting to doubt whether I’m even going to apply there since my chances seem so slim. Hear of anyone who got into umd-cp that was out of state? If so, how were there stats?
Wonder if anyone will ever notice how a good majority of all my posts have to do with umd lol

Ohkay well that seemed like a stupid way to phrase a question.. of course someone out of state has gotten into the school.. I just meant like, if you know anyone personally and how their stats were lol

I had heard that they look first at SAT's for out of state, and if you don't have a certain one they toss you immediately.
Two years ago, when my daughter was applying the magic number was in the 1200's (low side). I don't know where it stands now probably closer to the 1300 mark maybe?

Oh well then that kind of sucks lol My SAT scores are about 1250 and my scores are pretty even which I heard isnt really a good thing. Or something.

Yes, I know kids that have gotten in from out of state but they had fairly good scores.... into the 1400s more towards 1500. I would say that the average for out of state is about 100pts higher then the instate... but its still not impossible for the lower scores.

College park is quite popular these days among the higher quality public schools. They're ranked quite high in some areas but not in all. I also think that they are looking for the well rounded student over just the score. But, if you've got an 1010 and a 2.8 gpa I don't think that great ECs will help... LOL.

lol, i remeber when i was applying to schools and umcp was not even what it is today, it was like a 1000 and 3.0 safety school for most but since the bball and the fball have blown up so has its apps and price

I agree justperfect... I really dislike UMD CP but can see why some would like it. It's very research and sports oriented(both bad IMO). The surrounding area is pretty bad as are the dorms and from what I've heard the administration. I know tons of kids there and have stayed up there many weekends visiting people but I just don't see myself there. Yes, it got a good rep and a good quality for the price but I can think of so many places I'd rather be.

... but, because there is some amount of parental input on where I apply, I applied to UMD CP.

Yea im from NY. I had to turn it down because it was too expensive out of state but I took 8 APS, and did alot of community service and it helped. You dont necessarily need the best SATs, your only human. If your not a good test taker theres nothing you can do about it. People here just like to feel like there better than everyone else and they spout off their stats and then scream heresy when they dont get in. Its sad.
