I'm going to send in an app to Duke tonight and the only thing I have left is the "do you intend to apply for need based financial aid?" question. I don't believe I'll qualify but I figured there's always the possibility to get something. Since it says the school is need blind should I just check the box anyway or is there a slight disadvantage as a result?

Duke is indeed need-blind so there is absolutely no “risk” for checking this on your application from an admissions perspective. Even if you don’t qualify for need-based aid, applying for financial aid will give you the option of accepting a $5500 unsubsidized Stafford loan, if you choose to accept it.
