I got a 33 composite (33.25, of course -_-):

35 English
36 Math
32 Reading
30 Science (Hard as heck for the Sept 2012 test)

I signed up for the ACT this weekend, but I haven't done much prep from the last exam date, since I'm a senior super busy maintaining grades and such. The 33 is already 99% percentile.

Honestly, I don't think I can pull off another 35 English and 36 Math, but rather, like 34 each :/. Is there much point to me retaking, since I've heard the English and Math scores are most important for the ACT? I think I might be able to pull off a 34, since I think I can score 32-33 on Science this time around, if it isn't as hard as last time. Reading I might also be able to pull up 1 point. My estimated range for this time around (worst - best case scenarios):

Anyways, can anyone provide some insight into my scenario? I have a really low GPA (3.6 UC Weighted) and so I think the higher ACT the better, but not sure if a 34 or maybe (20% chance) 35 would benefit me over a 33 with great eng/math scores, since idk if I can replicate them.

Where are you applying? I got a 33.25 on the September ACT also and unless you are applying to MIT, Cal Tech, HYPS, or the other Ivies, I think you are fine. Retake in December if you are committed unless you are going EA or ED.

My GPA is so low though, so I think a 34 or 35 would be noticebly better. What do you think? 3.6 UC weighted (Weighted Soph/Junior grades…HUGE upward trend). I’m hoping good essays depicting my maturity as I began to perceive the world differently after traveling to a 3rd world country which led to me take academics more seriously (leading to upward trend) and essays conveying genuine passion for technology combined with a solid ACT score will get me into one of the following (I’m being realistic):

-UC San Diego
-UC Davis
-UC Santa Barbara
-UC Irvine
-Cal Poly SLO

Of course, I wouldn’t mind UC Berkeley or UCLA but I don’t think I’d have a chance at those regardless of whether I get a 35 or not :/. Can you provide any insight into this? Of course, I’m applying to
-all UC’s
-USC
-Georgia Tech
-UIUC
-UT Austin
-uMichigan
-Santa Clara University

I’ve seen people at my school get into those UC’s with a much lower ACT score than you and with a similar GPA I think. I would say retake it if you think you are ready, but if you can’t get a higher score on practice tests, then it wouldn’t be feasible to retake it. I think you already have an excellent chance at those schools.

AHHH so confused. Nah I doubt it, I’m Indian and go to a competitive public highschool. UC San Diego admits have unweighted GPAs of 3.7 and higher, how will I get in with a 3.6 WEIGHTED. Ughh I wish I could redo high school.
