Any point in retaking?

I've taken the SAT twice.

First time: 740 CR, 790 M, 770 W
Second time: 730 CR, 740 M, 780 W

There's one more chance for me to take the SAT (October) before applying early so I need to decide whether there's any point in doing so.

Thanks

Oh, and I’m planning to apply to schools like MIT, Caltech, Stanford, and Berkeley.

If you think you can get your reading up then go for it

Really no point with a 2310 superscore. Focus on other parts of your application.

I would only retake if you think you’ll score 800 CR. Even then, I don’t think there’s much need to do so if you’re interested in math/science (I’m assuming that from your schools).

Not much point. Colleges will start thinking you’re a little obsessive.

Unless you REALLY want to spend another Saturday/Sunday sitting the SAT, I would recommend against it.

I think it’s pretty normal to take the SAT three times, so I would say that you should take it again.
Math was so close the first time, and you’re obviously applying to some serious math/sci/engineering schools, so it would look best if you’d gotten an 800. But if you took the SAT IIs and did well in Math I/II, then forget it.
And bumping up CR wouldn’t hurt.

No point retaking a 2300+.

1, your scores are fine, so there’s no reason to retake.

2, statistically speaking, there’s no reason to expect your scores to increase drastically anyway. After the second take it’s much less likely that you will increase scores, and ones you are in the 700s it is also less likely that you will increase scores.

Your scores are very, very high – in the top 1% of test takers across the nation. You should only retake if you really want to get an 800 M for your own personal accomplishment.

Leave well enough alone. It reminds me of “Deal or No Deal.” Your stock went down after the potential showed in the first taking (it would have been nice to leave them with this thought: “If he/she scored this well earlier in Jr. year, imagine what they could score with more practice and experience”). My offer would be less at this time. If you want to do something different, try the ACT.

This is what I feel

The scores which you have are excellent. It would be a mere waste of money and time to give SAT 1. To get into a top 5 school its very important to give a SAT 2. I would recommend you give SAT2 try to get a top score.

Make a good resume and put in all your Extra curricular’s … getting in those schools is not easy even with a perfect score sometimes if your application is not good.

Also if I would be you I would join Georgia Tech and stop worrying about the others since you would get in state tuition and Georgia Tech is a very reputable school. A ranking here and there does not make a difference. Butya if you wanna stay away from home its a different case.

You could take courses in summer from Berkley, Stanford, MIT etc if you wish too.

unless you really want caltech, in which case you should get the math to 800
