Any point in submitting early? Is there an advantage?

Do you know if there's any advantage of submitting your application to the UCs early? My friend speculates that the applications are reviewed chronologically, so people who've already submitted their UC apps by now have already been reviewed, so I guess that gives them an advantage because the spots fill up, etc.

unless admissions is rolling, i don't think when you submit your app should make a difference.....unless you're paranoid...

Are the UCs rolling admititions?

there was a 1-2 month window for submitting, deadline is nov30th. Notsure if that categorizes as rolling

There is no advantage nor is there a disadvantage in submitting your application early to the UC system. On the other hand, since you're asking at this late date, the question and my response are relatively moot. UC has a distinct period for filing applications, which is Nov. 1-30. They do not have a "rolling admission" plan, only a RD plan.

My recommendation, after witnessing the server crash on UC's system last year, is to NOT wait until the last day to file your application. Following the server crash, UC did extend the deadline by a couple of days, but don't bank on that kind of extension again. UC has upgraded their systems and hopes that a systems crash won't happen this year.

interesting

I submitted my UC apps on Nov. 29th to avoid the possibility of the server crashing on the 30th. If you got started on your apps late and know that a few extra days would definitely help, I'd say go ahead and work on them till the 29th at the least.

here was a tip that my friend gave me:
Dont turn in your apps on the 29th, bc everyone will think that the server will crash on the 30th so they all will want turn in their apps on the 29th, therefore, the server will be extremely crowded on the 29th. So the best thing to do is turn in your apps on the 30th, when everyone else already submitted their apps...:D

lol, I hope you're kidding. I'd say the 28th at the latest. I'm planning to turn my UC and CSU apps in tomorrow. We've had awhile to do this. Nobody should have to depend on the last couple days to finish... but of course most do.
