I'm currently a junior at Kansas University and have applied for transfer admission to Duke. I really, really want to be a part of an acedemic enviroment grater than I have here and truely hope I get admitted. I know its a long shot (last year they accepted about 70 out of 400-so applicants) and the wait is killing me.

If anyone else has applied for transfer and lurks around these forums hoping they will get admitted, please let me know. I'd love to have someone in my situation to talk to!

I also applied to Duke as a transfer student... The other day I was accepted to WashU. I am still waiting to hear from Duke, but the turn off is the majority of people are rich and snobby.

I wouldn't say that the majority of people here are rich and snobby. I'm not gonna lie, I have met a few people who are very stuck up with themselves and are very rich. But for the most part that isnt the case. If you dont like hanging out with a rich and snobby crowd then you dont. I really hate how a lot of other people like to stigmatize Duke as having an arrogant elitist student body. I definitely dont feel it.

duke 25.... that is good to hear, I am hoping that as a transfer I would be able to fit in well. Do you know if transfers can pledge a frat in the fall?

I'm not in a frat so I'm not sure if they have special pledging circumstances. I do know that just about all the pledging happens in the spring. Sorry I dont know more about it. Good luck with the transfer
