I was wondering who here on CC obtained the Presidential Scholarship (full tuition) or even the half tuition scholarship. Could you people please post your stats? I'm in a situation where USC is my safety, and I would probably only attend USC if I'm getting a full or half scholarship. So, I just wanted to compare my stats to your guys' stats. Could you post a brief resum

Presidential is half, Trustee is full.

Sorry, my bad. I'm not at all familiar with USC's jargon. So, did anyone receive these scholarships or know ppl who did? What were their stats, ec's, and overall application like?

the people offered interviews for those scholarships (myself included) have very high GPAs (I'd say 3.9+ unweighted), SATs around 2200+, and show passion and focus in their essays, extracurriculars, and overall application. to actually get the scholarship, though, depends a lot on your interview. i don't think there are any "sure things".

I know someone who got it with 4.0 UW, ~2050 on the SAT, and hardly any EC's.... go figure

I interviewed for the trustee, but got presidential. I had a 4.0 uw gpa, and a 33 ACT. I thought my essays were very good, because they should that i was interested and passionate about learning. My ec's were good, but not spectacular, and i did have really good recommendations. Hope this helps, good luck.

I interviewed for trustee, got presidential. i had a 4.311 GPA, 2250 SAT, great essays, good ECs but sparse community service. bear in mind that interviews and awards are done by academic dept, so your major affects which award you might get and the difficulty

Oh and I meant the Trustee... sorry for not clarifying

i got presidential. 4.5, 2180, yearbook/school magazine, volunteer work...

Interviewed for trustee, got trustee. 2330 SAT's, 4.6 W/3.9 UW GPA, some longterm-ish EC's (hospital work, tutoring elementary school kids, music) and great essays :)

i'm presidential, by way of national merit finalist. didn't even have to interview!

Are these scholarships open only to CA residents?

no, you just have to fly to campus for an interview. usc pays for half of your ticket if you have to fly though.

btw if you are expecting/received national merit finalist and are also invited to interview (even if just for presidential) be aware that in addition to the presidential scholarship you can get an extra 1k added on for being national merit if you get presidential the interview way
