Any PSYCH Majors?

So if I get accepted to FSU for the spring of 2012, I'll be a PSYCH-Major [Junior year]. What are your thoughts and feedback about the PSYCH program/classes at FSU?

Obviously I picked FSU because I heard great things about the university itself, I'm just curious how is the curriculum in the PSYCH field there?

What would you suggest taking and not taking etc??

Also any PSYCH Majors here that goes to FSU? What are you studying as your Minor? Would you suggest a double major?

Are you certain that FSU upholds enough prestige for you? :)

:P On the other hand, I’m keeping my options open as well. I have several friends went to FSU and they all suggest FSU instead of UF. But UF originally was my pick, but it’s good to keep options open!

Absolutely. Have you visited both schools?

No I have not, I’ll be doing that after this semester at my current college is over. : ) Going to visit both universities, and probably also check out UCF while I’m at it.

I’ve done extensive research on both schools, I’ve contacted guidance counselors at both schools, and everyone seemed very helpful and cheerful. Then again that’s sorta part of their job, but you’re right in a sense I should go and see it for myself.

FSU is probably likely where I’ll head to, because of the programs they offer, and its location. UF i’m still a bit iffy about, but not too sure about it. Either way whichever school I choose I’ll be practically on my own there, I don’t know anyone that’s going to those schools, but that’s beside the point.

:O FSU in all honest seems more of a relax state of mind university than UF. UF feels like it’s more hardcore on point… :/

From our experience the visits made the difference. Initially my son wasn’t even interested in applying to FSU. UF was his safe school and FSU wasn’t on his radar. All that changed after visiting the two last summer.

FSU was a great fit for him. I’m sure he would have been happy at UF but I know he’ll be happier at FSU. I firmly believe that when you visit the campus that you belong on you feel it.

Why do you think he’d be happier there than UF? What made the difference? What is your son major? if you don’t mind me asking. : )

FSU felt like home to him. To us, his parents, as well. The warmth of all of the people (students, administrators, etc) really stood out. The school seems to know who and what it is, if that makes any sense.

At UF we felt a pervasive attitude of privilege. On our tour the student ambassadors made three to four ‘jokes’ about FSU and it’s students. One about the UF library being so good that they could bring in any book in the country that a student requested, even comic books from FSU, if needed. We were surprised at that from a public ivy. :)

To us, UF seemed more concerned with who they think they are, or want to be, than who they are.

He is currently interested in a double major of finance & accounting.

FSUDAD1 from what I hear about FSU and UF I think you summed it up pretty well. Thanks for your input I appreciate it!

I’ll definitely check out both of them after my semester is over here at my community college.
