@Kingcam23 - Those numbers seem inaccurate to me. I have many friends going the bio/sports med route and intend on applying to med school. There is no “pre-med” at Pepperdine. Most people major in biology or sports medicine - which is really popular.

@babygrl9205 - It won’t hurt you to not submit your ACT. Your SAT score and GPA are solid for Pepperdine standards.
It is religious. You have to attend 14 chapel/convocations per semester for a grade. It is a dry campus (no alcohol), and that rule is observed. You are not allowed in the opposite gender’s room after 1 a.m. Three religion classes are also part of the general education program.
I know many people who are not Christian at Pepperdine, and they are welcome, but I would imagine it would be difficult being the minority.
Similar schools? LMU, Redlands?

Also, don’t pay too much attention to rankings. They are largely subjective. Pepperdine’s admitted class stats are significantly higher than the mid-UCs, yet they are higher ranked according to U.S. News.

@joysky922 - I don’t think there are scholarships for international students, but I would call the admissions office and double check.
Pepperdine has a pretty holistic admission process and considers all areas of the application.

@laufon - Call both Pepp and USC’s admissions and ask, I don’t know :]

Sorry my responses were so late, everyone!

I’m applying to pepperdine as a transfer for the fall of 2010. I did not get accepted when I applied for freshman year when I had a weighted gpa of 4.1 and SAT scores of 1780 though i didn’t have much in terms of ec (just football, leadership, and community service). Currently I have a 3.5 (will get it higher after next semester). Wondering if any one else has been accepted as a transfer and if they had any tips.

Hi, I’m applying as a freshman to Pepperdine and I’m finishing up my common application but I’m stuck on the supplement question:
“Pepperdine’s scholarly community equips students with a liberal arts education anchored in Christian values. Our commitment to integrating faith and learning challenges our students to understand that the gift of knowledge ultimately calls for a life of service. With this commitment in mind, please respond:
Tell us how the integration of faith and learning can prepare you for a life of service, and discuss the impact service-learning can have on the renewing of your mind, spirit, and community.”

I’m not religious at all but I’ve done a good amount of community service, I have no idea what to write, anybody have any suggestions? I would really appreciate it! please.

@ ariella: I would talk about how it is truly important to find your vocation in life rather than your career. Like what you are meant to do as opposed to how you can make as much money as possible. You can also exaggerate how religious you are, which isn’t a bad idea

Thanks so much, your advice is really helpful!

hey everyone! can someone chance me please?

im a freshman transfer
21 units now but 30+ by the end of spring

alsoalso would it be a HUGE deal if one of my recommendations or SAT scores were a few days late?

alsoalsoalso are the supplements at the end of the common application necessary? it doesnt say anything about them on the pepperdine site…

thanks everybody :-]

Hello, all!

I am interested in Pepperdine for pre-med, and I would appreciate if y’all chanced me:

3.6 UW GPA
~2050 on the SAT

taking IB courses, and a few AP’s; IB certificate.

Volunteer hours at hospital and charities

Operate my own small business; have work experience; operate my own political magazine

Member of clubs at school: NHS, NSHSS, Arrowhead, Republicans’ Club and Libertarians’ club and Latin Club (for learning Latin); I started the last two. I also have been involved in student council.

Any ideas?

I don’t play sports or musical instruments.

VERY good chance

hey guys do you think I have a chance at Pepperdine? I’d love to go to Pepperdine and would like to know if there should be any improvements in my area and see where I stand.

I’m a junior right now at at private catholic all boys school.

I have a 3.7 weighted GPA with 1720 SAT - 560 reading 600 math 560 writing. I’ll take SATs twice more and ACT too to see how much I get more.

Almost all of my classes are Honors classes and I’ve taken 2 AP class this year and
planning on taking 4 next year.

I’m the advertisement manager in the school’s Asian American Club, I’m also in the Leadership club, art club, environmental club, varsity swimming manager, and a student council officer and plan on running for school vice president this year, I’ve done my volunteer service work at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Hopsital and also at a local soup kitchen.

I’m also very into my school’s art club, (and not to brag but) I’m considered one of the school’s best artist and my teacher recommends that I go to Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) but I’d like to keep options open and art school isn’t the biggest option for me since I’d like to major in psychology or environmental science, also since I’d like to go somewhere in Cali.

anyone chance me please?

Sw,

Your SAT could stand to go a little higher. Try to atleast break 1800. I think you are border-line. Goodluck!

Can anyone comment on the BA in Theatre and Television?

So I currently attend the University of Kansas but I applied to Pepperdine for the fall semester. I have some questions. Being from Kansas and when applying for colleges I knew I was going to stay in Kansas so I didn’t take the SAT. I now regret that choice. I did take the ACT though and got a 29 which I know is not on the high side for a school like Pepperdine. Will not have taken the SAT hurt my chances? I have a 4.0 here at KU and 4.0 from high school. I am really nervous about acceptance. I also cannot afford Pepperdine in the slightest bit so I would need maximum amount of money to go. I really have my heart set on going to Pepperdine but I do not want to be really disappointed if it does not happen.

Can anybody comment?

tcobb, I wish you luck although I honestly have no idea about transfers and financial aid. My SAT was quite low and I still got accepted so maybe your case will be the same with the ACT.

Best of luck!

Thank you so much!
