CTN, you are probably not Pepperdine material

if you were, you would have done a little bit of reading and research and seen that the stats are posted on several other threads on this message board.

like this:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/pepperdine-university/885402-official-accepted-rejected-thread-class-2014-a.html</a></p>

and this:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/pepperdine-university/885470-official-pepperdine-waitlist-thread.html</a></p>

I spoke with a lady at Pepperdine today, and she said that they no longer send out physical financial aid packets. Wavenet is the only thing we can view this stuff. Was anyone else just waiting around for this too?

Also, would it be crazy for me to attend Pepperdine without seeing it? My parents just can’t afford to fly out there and pay the deposit. I have to make a hard decision :[

Hah, I applied to 4 colleges. I visited all of them except for Pepperdine–I even flew all the way to new york to visit NYU (I live in Seattle). And yet, I plan on attending Pepperdine. So if you’re crazy, dylman, I am too.

But I don’t think we’re crazy. I’ve heard Pepperdine is a great school, with great facilites, a supreme campus, and fantastic teachers. My cousin loved her time there.

The only thing, for me, is that I would have liked to have gotten a feel for how conservative the campus is. You hear a lot about how conservative it is, and then that ******bag Kenneth Star is the dean of the law school…and I’m fairly liberal. Well. Extremely, really.

But whatever, I’ve grown up in a repressive, conservative school system all my life–and compared to the university that my fellow classmates are all flocking off to, Pepperdine is “heathenistic”. Bring it on!

Bryce, the campus is so conservative that the girls have to wear dresses down to their ankles…with high socks so that no part of the leg is shown…

that is so not true johnadams.

He’s being sarcastic haha

I am so glad i’m not the only one who will be doing this. I feel a lot better knowing Brycestofer is doing the same thing. But you’re right. I would have liked to see the people and classes at Pepperdine. Oh well, it is a LOT less conservative than Harding University.

I’m in the same boat. I trusted God to get me in and get good financial aid, and I think God knows what it looks like, so I shouldn’t be worried…

meanwhile, enjoy the live webcams:

BTW, Ken Starr just accepted a new position as the President of Baylor University. Regardless of your political affiliation, it’s my understanding Pepperdine has room for all kinds of minds.

dylman - I can guarantee you that you will not be disappointed in Pepperdine’s campus. Admit day last year took my breath away. Pictures simply do not attest to the beauty of Malibu. Just try not to be too starstruck when you get here in the Fall :]
The dorms and classrooms are all very clean and generally new. They’re also the nicest I’ve seen of any of the universities I toured. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Brycestofer - HAHA. Girls don’t even wear pants here. Top, leggings, boots. Good to go.

The campus is great.

And contrary to Pep’s reputation, political diversity exists here.

Hi, I already made a thread about this, but as it will die I bet ( hehe) I just wanted to know, I’m aware Pepperdine isn’t a OMG LETS GET DRUNK!!!## Party school, and that’s fine. However, is it still fun? Do people still hang out and shop and go to the beach and etc? Do people visit LA and Santa Monica with friends for fun? Because my idea of fun is drug free and non alcoholic and so does THAT fun exist? :D

Also are professors good at separating religion from their teaching in the classes?

i was admitted as an art major but now im really interested in advertising.
is it possible to change form art major to advertising major?
if it is possible, then is it easy to change from art to advertising?
and does advertising major require portfolios like art major?

duby1234 - Of course it’s fun! We do all those things and more.

In some classes, you won’t even be reminded that Pepperdine is a Christian school. In others, the professors might ask how the subject relates to faith/interfaith communication for discussion, and in others — like religion — it will be straight Christian.
What are you concerned about specifically? I haven’t felt any discomfort.

haha2010 - Yes, you can change your major. No, advertising does not require a portfolio/application.
