Also, I read on facebook (its validity is in question) that ERC is 95% asian and 70% female? There is no way those numbers are right...

How is the film program at UCSD?

thanks for this!

Are the walls really as thin as they say?

Is the distance from the rest of campus a problem? Where do you hang out between classes?

Is it hard to transfer MMW courses?

What do your friends in triples think of them?

this is a general UCSD question, but I still don't really get the 6 college system. I know the GE reqs & dorm locations are diff for each college, but what else? I'm in Warren - will all my classes be in the Warren area or will I have classes in the Revelle area?

nothing else is different. you'll take classes wherever they're scheduled to be held, and will take them alongside people from all colleges. you can eat anywhere you want. you can study at any library you want. the only restriction i can think of is that the warren reshalls required keycard/key access, so that's more security than the rest of campus.

Just wanted to ask a question about extracurriculars... are people at UCSD active in student organizations? How about at ERC?

Am I allowed to join a student organization at a different college than the one I am accepted to?

I was told that the dinner hall charge by the item. Is that right?
Yes, everything is priced like a normal store/restaurant. In the beginning of the year when you pay for housing, the school puts 2100 "dollars" on your student ID. You then use your ID like a credit card at the dinning halls. The benefits of this is that you don't eat yourself into the freshmen 15, and you can bring any food you want outside of the dinning hall, where as in schools like UCLA they'll murder you if you bring a sandwich out.

Also, I read on facebook (its validity is in question) that ERC is 95% asian and 70% female? There is no way those numbers are right...
The asian/white ration at ERC is the same as every other school, something like 55%/30%. ERC does have a female population of like 65%, also, probably 20-30% of the guys at ERC are gay.

How is the film program at UCSD?
Nothing special

Are the walls really as thin as they say?
Yes, you can easily hear all conversations in the rooms around you, including the suite living room.

Is the distance from the rest of campus a problem? Where do you hang out between classes?
In my opinion, no; the campus is beautiful so I enjoy having long walks to class. People hang out everywhere... though most people like to either just study or eat between class during the day.

Is it hard to transfer MMW courses?
Transfer them where? I highly doubt you can transfer MMW courses.

What do your friends in triples think of them?
I hate it. It completely depends on how you get along with your roommates, if you're not super good friends, you won't enjoy them always being in the same room as you.

Am I allowed to join a student organization at a different college than the one I am accepted to?
Yes, the only school-specific organizations are the student council and event planning groups.

Thanks for volunteering to answer questions! I have 1, and it's kind of a weird question.

I heard about the long Ge requirements of ERC. I'm a biochem major transfer student though. I don't know what I was thinking when I chose ERC as my first choice. Is this going to be difficult for me as I just want to take all my bio prereqs for pharmacy school quickly and deal with GE classes as little as possible?

what's the shower situation like?

This is an awesome thread!

Are there any college traditions, something similar to Revelle's watermelon drop?

Where are good places to study?

Are there any art pieces like the Bear at Warren?

Is there any specific point of interest ERC students are into?

Are there any historical places or important people who graduated from ERC?

Thanks in advance!
