whats UD credit? (im a ■■■■■■ lol)

^
Upper division, lol. You need more upper division courses to take, thus, why you’re recommended to take up a minor, especially if you complete all the courses you need to.

oh right! haha. so what happens if you don’t end up minoring in something? and how much UD credit do you need?

^
Google is your friend, lol.

If you don’t end up minoring in something, you can simply take more UD elective units from the Psychology department.

Edit: I’ll have to look into this, because I know for other departments you have to take UD/elective courses from ANOTHER department separate from your own. I’ll ask in the Psychology department tomorrow at work.

oh okay great thank you! :)

Hi RheeL3! I have a big problem and I need some advice. I got admitted to UCLA for pre-psychology but I have a problem… so I took Philosophy (pre-req) this spring in 2010 but I took it for pass/no pass but I am also taking another Philosophy class during the summer which fits in the same category/pre-req (for a letter grade) as the the Philosophy class I’m taking right now. Is UCLA going to rescind me?? I have finished all of the other pre-reqs and I have 4.0 for my major gpa, 3.8 overall, lots of ecs and work etc. I had personal problem so thats why I made it pass/no pass. Can you help me figure this out because I emailed UCLA but I never got a reply them but I updated the provisional update form… Thank you so much!!

hi tiff - how’s your day going?

so I think 'm gonna live in a res hall since it’s cheaper (but still pretty expensive). I haven’t filled out the application because I wanted to ask you if we get to choose which of the different dorm buildings to live in or do they place us randomly?
if we have the choice, which building is best?

thanks

Tiffany, did you get a sticker in your admissions packet last year? I was under the impression that we got stickers and mine didn’t contain one. Berkeley gave me a sticker so I might remove my SIR from LA and go to Cal instead. That sticker quality was going to be my deciding factor and since UCLA didn’t give me one, they’re kind of out by default.

^Cal also used heavier stock for their folders. Though my UCLA packet contained five letters from various important people lol.

Oh, but a Cal recruiter personally called me last night asking where I was going and telling me why Cal would be the best choice. I feel like a piece of meat at a carnivore convention and it feels nice. :-)

Tiffany,

Are the tours worth attending. Considering I missed Bruin day, I decided to make up for it by going on a tour on 5/23. If it is a good tour what should I expect?

Starbucks on me! Ping me on fb or e-mail me. I’ll provide it through PM if you so desire. Thanks again for everything.

P.S. Are you excited about graduation?

^
The tours are weak. You’ll also get a tour by your OC, at least throughout North Campus when you pass. They tell you the same BS, lol. Expect it to be super hot out when you tour!

Graduation?! I’m excited about Graduate School, graduation is just one of the steps needed to go there. So…not as much as I should be? Yeah maybe in a couple of months, hahaha.

To Ella89:
The stickers in the admission packets now suck regardless. I remember getting mine but then not even caring, lol. All I cared about was the letter, and then that too was put away. The good stickers are the one you buy in Ackerman, lol…or the stickers I received freshmen year when the UCs weren’t so broke. :)

To xdunks: Wait for the update. I’m not sure if pre-req courses have to be taken for a grade or not…so I don’t want to direct you in the wrong direction and the have it be mistaken! They will email you back soon, they’re just super busy with other emails!

To KidKrasher: You do not get to pick the exact building in which you live in. Based on your preferences, they choose a building for you and also based on the date which you turn in your application. The sooner you get yours in the sooner you get your choice. You’ll probably be in Rieber (no AC) or Sproul (endless fire drills). Good luck!

^Dammit lol. I was all excited to go through a tour. Luckily I have a professor who has friends that work for UCLA and will hook me up with a “real tour.”

What should I be asking these people?

P.S. I can’t believe you enjoy Starbucks over Coffee Bean. I’d kill to have a CB closer to were I live. As is, I have to go to SF to get CB. But I’ll be buying because you’ve been a tremendous resource on CC.

I called the housing office and they said housing was done on a lottery system, so no matter when you turn in your application you have the same chance as everyone else. Is this not true?

I actually really enjoyed my tour a couple of months ago… I don’t know relevant it is “realistically” as an experienced student, but once you look past all of that “UCLA is the best university in the world” talk… it’s actually pretty fun :)

^
Oh, I suppose if you like the BS talk, that’s cool. Some of the tour guides will go on into the stories, and for me I was like…“waste of my time…” lol, but some people I guess do like that type of stuff!

To Ella89: They told me the same thing last year, but here on the forums, I realized that I actually got what I wanted. Not a lot of people were happy with what they ended up getting, then I realized that they were a bit later in sending in their housing applications, I sent mine in the first week of May.

To eyethink: You’ll have to tell me when so I check my schedule, I might be working that day! Actually I have GRE prep on Fridays…but let me know. Yeah…I pass by the tour guides all the time and I kind of feel bad for them, lol. It’s slowly getting very hot and having to walk around all around UCLA…? Yeah I’ll pass and stay inside, hahaha.
Oh…and there’s a bunch of Coffee Beans…at BCaf and Express they have Coffee Bean drinks, not Starbucks. sad face! Luckily there are two Starbucks near campus!

Well that’s why I said once you look past all of that… haha. It’s nice to see the campus from a general perspective though, instead of just based on your college I guess?

hey tiff, i have another question

I’m filling out the housing application and they are asking for my picture? is this the picture that will go on my school id? I want to make sure that I dont upload some uggly ass pic of me. I’d be embarrasing

^
You actually don’t even have to upload one, I’m not sure what happens when you do. I wouldn’t…lol. When you come to Orientation you can get your Bruincard here.

Attention everyone! (Well…everyone who is freaking out about how courses at UCLA are going to be like anyways!) I can’t believe I didn’t think of this sooner!

[COURSES — UCLA Office of Instructional Development](http://www.bruincast.ucla.edu/)

If you go to that link and click on the courses that don’t have a lock (you don’t have to be a member of the class to see/hear the podcast, then I’m sure you guys can have the “inside” look! The LS 4 one is open! and there’s an upper division PS and Philosophy class too! It’s not a lot, but I’m sure it gives you an idea!

I’ll have to watch the videos for my own class now…

Would you happen to know, if you apply for off-campus apartments, can you pick what size of an apartment you want to be in? 2bed/bath, etc?

^
Yes you can, of course you don’t get to pick the exact apartment building, you do get to pick what you want. But keep in mind you might not get your first pick, or second…or third, lol. I think they give you a drop down menu of five choices where you fill in the order of what room/occupancy/bathroom you want.
