Hey all, I was just curious about my chances at Princeton would be. Any other suggestions or advice would be great!

My school doesn't offer AP's, but I'll graduate w/ an Associate of Arts degree from my local community college. But, if this is going to cause problems (i.e. transfer student status) then I won't accept the degree, and I'll just have a bunch of credits

I'm special because:

I can solve a Rubik's cube in about 1 min 15 sec.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head...so thanks again!

you've already posted a thread similar to this one.

Yeah, I posted about HYPS in general, and from what I've heard, Yale and Harvard are LOADS different in what they look for in applicants compared to Princeton. Plus, I only got one person's opinion about this so far, so I was just wondering what everybody else thought. :)

you're test scores are fine, with ur sat at the lower end of the scale (but it really doesnt matter) 2200 or 2300, they will be viewed the same. since you dont have many ECs and leadership positions I would suggest you to heavily emphasize those, through your application, show how dedicated/how much time you spent on those ECs. if you are good at guitar (take lessons classically) I would suggest you send in a CD (those are usually due 2 weeks ahead of time, so get started on that. Classical guitar is much more respected since not many people do it. Princeton really cares about your essays (I would say Harvard and Yale emphasize it a little less). Princeton has 3 mandatory essays and 1 optional. More personalized than any other essays I have seen. Really emphasize your ECs, for those are the things that might hurt you a bit if you dont show how committed you are to them.

hehe, do ACDC and Slayer count as "classical"? lol! I actually have had a BUNCH of leadership positions within my ECs, so I think that I am good there. Plus I have some killer recs, so I don't need to worry there. So, if I applied ED, what would you ballpark my likelyhood of acceptance at? Like 10-20% or 40%? Does being from Washington state count as anything special?

Isn't the solution to solving a Rubik's cube on the internet?

FAKEOUT

Yeah, and I'd like to see you figure it out and solve it in <1:15 : P

You need to take another subject test. Most top colleges, including Pton, still require three. Also, since you're such a math whiz, it might be worthwhile to retake the SAT and go for an 800.

Yeah, I've been thinking about retaking. I just hate the SAT I, because they love to resort to trickery to invoke a wrong answer rather than just stumping you :0 Oh well. Doesn't Pton count the new SAT's writing section like they would the old subject test, or do I need to take 3 SAT II's plus the new SAT I? Thanks for being patient w/ my ignorance!

P.S. if so, do I need to take a humanity SAT or could I take physics?

Don't take a humanities SAT II if you believe you can achieve an excellent score in one of your main subjects. Do retake the SAT I. Although a 1470 old test is a great score, and falls within Princeton's range, that doesn't take into consideration all of the people accepted with lower SAT I scores in order to fill niches. They are far more likely to take a professional flute player with a 1470 than they are to take you. In order to compensate for those they accept with realtively low SATs that they accept because of other talents, the actual SAT range for "normal" applicants is far less forgiving than stats indicate. Still, I think you have a very real chance of getting in.

Ok, I am going to retake the SAT I for sure now. However, does Princeton not require at least 1 humanity SAT II, or do I have that wrong?
