Any really random questions at interview?

I have my interview in a couple days and was wondering if anyone can speak on experience regarding any totally random questions that were asked during their interview.

Assuming it's an alumni interview, there are no guidelines and every one will be different. Be prepared to talk about yourself and why you want to go to Penn ;)

thanks (10 char)

i had an alumni interview and it was pretty standard. My interviewer was SOOOO enthusiastic! It was really more like a conversation and we got really into it, the majority of the conversation was about penn and him testing my knowledge of the school and its traditions.

Do interviews have any bearing on admissions? As in can a great interview help you (assuming you're a solid candidate already)? Or are they purely the informative type?

A good interview will help you in the admissions process, and a bad one will hurt you. It's not gonna make or break you though, unless you're REALLY close to being accepted or rejected, and then MAYBE it'll push you over. Maybe.

The interview carries very little weight in the admissions process at Penn. In fact, many get in without ever having one.

Are phone interviews common? I live in California and I got a call from an alum today asking when would be a good time for me. He said he'd give me a call Monday and wanted to do it before Thanksgiving--I assumed he was going to call back so we could set up a time/place. But I checked his area code online because I didn't recognize it, and it's for New York.

I haven't heard about college interviews over the phone..?

hey, i'm having my penn interview tomorrow. the email said that i need to bring my resume with me... does that mean that they will take it after the interview?

heyy I have my interview scheduled at the local diner tomorrow....i know that usually it would be suggested to dress in business casual, I was wondering if anybodyhad any suggestions as to what i should wear?

they said that you bring your resume with you, so i think they will take it after the interview, maybe for assessment, and for the record..

my interview was straightforward, asked what my friends thought of me lol.

My interview was pretty bush league, she read off the paper and didn't challenge me at all. She just said ok even if my answer was off topic. Weakest Interviewer Ever.

I feel like a complete idiot. I forgot to mention ALL of my extracurriculars, and barely touched on grades.

In terms of the PENN IS MY #1 DREAM SCHOOL FOREVER... i think i did okay LOL

Basically
1. Tell me about yourself?
2. Talk about yourself (arghhhhh why didnt i mention extracurriculars)?
3. Where else are you applying to?
4. Why Penn?
5. Can you explain more about the program you're applying to?

And he talked about himself for quite a bit and answered all of my questions really well... on top of giving some excellent advice for my undergrad studies.

I'm just worried b/c he didn't say "oh i think you're a strong candidate" blah blah blah.... eh x.x
