<p>Hi! Does anyone have any favorite PSAT prep books? This would be my second time taking the exam -- I took it last year as a sophmore, and scored something around 65 on each section, despite not studying! I'd like to improve my scores a few points this time around though!</p>
<p>Any advice? I gather there are three main ones -- The Princeton one, the Kaplan, and the Barrons (which is supposed to be harder, I hear?).</p>

<p>Don’t bother with PSAT specific books - the material is almost entirely the same as for the SAT. I strongly encourage my students to just prepare for the SAT and PSAT at the same time. You can take the October SAT and kill two birds with one stone so to speak. It’s much more time efficient and a lot less work for you.</p>
<p>The actual SAT is basically the same difficulty as the practice tests. Just get the blue book from collegeboard, but remember to go over the explanations to the ones you miss to learn and score higher the next time around.</p>
<p>I agree with the two above, opt for studying for both the PSATs and the SATs at the same time. I’d recommend the Blue Book as well as the guides we have stickied here on CC.</p>
<p>I wouldn’t worry about practicing for a “preliminary SAT” exam. The only reason you should prepare for the PSAT is if you’re going for the Natl. Merit Scholarship.</p>
<p>Like everyone else said, you can just get SAT books. But I did some of Barron’s PSAT book and i feel like it’s just as hard as the SAT. It’s very good, albeit difficult, practice.</p>
