Any Recommendations + Chances?

Heeeyyyy...I'm an Asian female (Chinese-American, to be exact), and I'm not the typical stereotypical smart Asian unfortunately... ANYWAYS, I live in suburban prep-town Connecticut. I go to a private school in Stamford. Let's see...so as for the SAT I:

Math ~ 720
Verbal ~ 750
Writing ~ 780

SAT II:

Chinese ~ 780
US History ~ 750
Physics ~ 710
Math IC ~ 730

I don't know my GPA or class rank, but these are my classes:

Freshman Year:
Honors English ~ B+
Biology ~ B+
History ~ A-
Spanish II ~ A (my school doesn't give out A+)
Geometry ~ B

Sophomore Year:
Honors English ~ A
Chemistry ~ A
Honors History ~ B+
Honors Spanish III ~ B
Algebra II + Trigonometry ~ B

Junior Year:
Honors English ~ A
Honors Physics ~ A-
AP US History ~ B+
Honors Spanish 4 ~ A-
Honors Pre-calculus ~ B+
Honors Chinese III ~ A

Senior Year:
I don't know the grades yet, but these are the courses I'll probably be taking:
AP English
AP Biology or Forensics
AP European History
AP Calculus (I don't know if AB or BC) or Honors Calculus
Honors Chinese 4
AP Economics or AP Statistics

Now, as for ec's...this is the part where I severly lack. But then, my grades or SAT's aren't that great either. Gahhhh...XD

Anyways, I've been taking piano and voice lessons...haven't done anything spectacular with it though... I take Chinese school on Sundays, but I graduated during my sophomore year, and worked junior and now senior year as an assistant teacher. Umm...I was vice-president of the Creative Writing Club junior year and will be president senior year. I love to write poetry...that's definately a passion of mine. I also work as a staff member for the school newspaper. Umm...I also played varsity field hockey all 4 years for my school, but I don't think it's something that I can be recruited for... Y'know...I think that's it. I'm looking to become more involved with some community service clubs like Building with Books and Habitat for Humanity. le sigh I'm so hopeless.

I have little ideas about my major. Maybe English, but what job am I going to get? (I don't think I want to be a teacher.) Maybe International Business so that I use my Chinese? Maybe communications or journalism? Maybe creative writing, but how am I going to feed myself? Oh well...

Anyways, I have a list of dream schools. They are strictly dream, of course. But do you think I might have a chance at these schools? Please tell me!!! And I'll love some recommendations for any other schools that fit within my range. So, are these schools worth applying to at all?

Bryn Mawr College
Cornell University
Northwestern University
Rutgers University
St. John's College (the one in Maryland with the Great Books program)
Stanford University
Swarthmore College
University of Hawaii - Manoa
Vassar College

Thank you for your imput!!!

don't listen to me too much.. it's just my opinion. you might get rejected even i say you will get in, vice versa.

Bryn Mawr College - i don't know
Cornell University - good chance
Northwestern University - good chance
Rutgers University - idk
St. John's College - idk
Stanford University - a chance with an attractive essay
Swarthmore College - a little bit of chance
University of Hawaii - Manoa - idk
Vassar College - idk

You definately have a shot at Bryn Mawr...but you might want to look at other women's colleges too.

Cornell will be hard, but make sure to show them your great writing skills in your essays

Stanford is impossible for everyone

Swarthmore is REALLY hard to get into but they like it if you can prove that you are really involved in your community

Thanks for the replies...nervous nervous

Sozo: What other women's colleges should I consider? Another one I was thinking of is Wellesley...

Another question I forgot to ask! XD

Is being Asian a slight or big disadvandage when it comes to admissions at those schools or just in general?

bumpity bump-bump

Koukris - your academic unweighted GPA is a 3.51. Most colleges won't count your A in Chinese, as you are Chinese. But that would only bring it up to around a 3.54.

Being Chinese American doesn't help you, as it isn't a URM. There are plenty of Asian-Americans at the prestigious schools.

With a 3.51 GPA and a 1470 SAT, you are unlikely to get into top 25 schools in the country.

Cornell, Northwestern, Stanford, Vassar, Swarthmore, are all reaches. St. John's and Bryn Mawr are matches. Rutgers and Hawaii are safeties.

Bryn Mawr College - yes
Cornell University - 30-40%
Northwestern University - 50%
Rutgers University - yes
St. John's College - yes
Stanford University - 5-15%
Swarthmore College - 20-35%
University of Hawaii - Manoa - yes
Vassar College - yes

Thanks for the honesty! :) I was kinda worried about the Chinese class and SAT II. Even though Chinese isn't my first or second language, I guess the college admission people won't realize that. Oh well...I hope to continue studying Chinese in college which is why I'm taking it in school. Thank you A2Wolves6 for calculating my GPA!

everything look ok. for the top colleges u'll need some good essays since a 3.5 is not that great and your EC's are not outstanding. SAT's are good so you have a chance....just not an excellent chance

Hmmm...any way I can boast up my EC's? I guess it's too late to join any clubs or anything...oh well...
