Those who got accepted so far...what kind of envelope did you letter come in? :)

a big envelope.. heavy..

Tisch 2010... :)

Son finally got his big white envelope to Tisch Dramatic Writing today !
(here in Los Angeles)

Got that small letter in today's mail - Bummer

Looks like Univ of Washington or BU for me....

BayGuy, sorry for the disappointment. Look ahead to the wonderful opportunities that await you at either of those fine universities!

methodactress- mine was in a big white envelope, green folder, that seems to be the trend.

And thanks so much! Haha, I'd love to be a foster MT kid...kinda! :)

Yea, I put down Stella Adler and Meisner as my two, so hopefully I'm in one of those.

(This was such a gift, because I only applied to two schools for hardcore theater stuff...the rest were very liberal)

Acceptance package from Tisch in today's mail here in Atlanta!!!
D is already in NYC for spring break and Saturday at the Square.
It's finally real!!!

D was accepted to Tisch dance - anyone else out there? Though she received an invitation, she will not be attending Sat@the square - Spring Break cruise. Everyone is so active on this board - but the dancers seem to be hiding.

Melsmom, you can add me as accepted for Wright State's MT program as well. :-)

Still nothing from NYU for me either, but I was invited to Tisch Saturday in the Square so I'm feeling good.

Going to have fun time burning NYU's things (all of their booklets are normal paper so they'll burn quite easily) I haven't been rejected yet.. but i'm pretty sure i'll.. it sucks

May want to postpone the burning for a few more days. Hang in there. This time is the hardest.

Yea, I totally agree, I mean...I got rejected from Yale, Notre Dame, U of I (theater)....waitlist at Northwestern....lol and I didn't burn anything! And those were some sad rejections for me! Chin up, you'll do fine somewhere, whether or not its NYU! We'll pray for ya though!

Did anyone get a "Tisch Scholarship" (not a "Trustee Scholarship") along with their acceptance? It's not a big amount, but I'm curious as to what this is. I know soozievt's daughter and a few others received Trustee Scholarships last year, but I wonder how that differs from a Tisch Scholarship, or if they just changed the name.

yeah i got a tisch scholarship.. small amount of money

Edmondsg, I am not well versed on this but I think a Tisch Scholarship is NOT the same as a Trustee Scholarship. I recall last year some kids who got into NYU but not for Tisch, saying they got a Trustee Scholarship. The Tisch Scholarship must be something else. Sorry to not know the specific differences but just commenting that I don't think this is a name change but rather different scholarships.

Also, I know a parent who posts on this forum whose child got in ED for CAP21 who got a Trustee's Scholarship in Dec. and it was called Trustee, not Tisch.

My d also received a Tisch scholarship (it was not a significant amount of money).
It's my understanding that eligibility for these awards is first based on merit but that the amount is tied to demonstrated need.

Hey SoozieVT - was it my d you were talking about? Because she got a Tisch scholarship, not Trustee. We were told it was a combination of academic and talent; nothing was said about financial need. I don't think we would have qualified, even as broke as I always seem to be, lol! I guess you wouldn't consider it to be substantial for NYU tuition, 9K per year. For any other school it would sound like a decent amout, but at 48K+ per year, it's a small drop in the bucket.

RossJi...nope, I wasn't talking about your D who got a Tisch scholarship. I do believe a Tisch Scholarship is not the same as a Trustee Scholarship. I think there are fewer Trustee Scholarships. By the way, a Trustee Scholarship can be for merit only as well and a student need not be a financial aid applicant to get one. There were posters on CC last year who got Trustee Scholarships who did not apply for aid. If someone is awarded a merit based Trustee Scholarship, who also applied for financial aid, then the amount of the scholarship will take need into account as well.

When I was referring in my earlier post about a CAP21 student who got in ED and was awarded a Trustee Scholarship, I was not talking about your D. I was talking about THIS year, this past Dec., a parent of a child who got into CAP, and the parent has posted here, told me that her child received a Trustee Scholarship. I mentioned that just to say that there ARE Trustee Scholarships which are different than a Tisch Scholarship and do not reflect any name change this year because someone got a Trustee Scholarship this past Dec. who got into CAP21. As well, there were posters LAST year on CC, on other CC forums, not MT, who got a Trustee Scholarship but were not applicants to Tisch. So, a Trustee Scholarship is NOT specific to Tisch and the Tisch name is not associated with the scholarship name.

Yikes, hope I was clearer. Just sharing what I know. When in doubt or in need of answers, call the school you guys. I'm just a Tisch mom on this end of things. :D

RossJi...while $9000 seems like a drop in the bucket with the entire costs you gotta pay, take it while you can....it is still $9000 off, nothing to sneeze about! The rest of the bill? Yeah, I know!

I would call the school, but it's such a small amount (much less than rossji's), I won't bother them.

I am curious, though, about how many of these they distribute, and whether everyone accepted to Tisch receives at least a small amount.

I got waitlisted. Actually a very pleasant surprise. Does anyone know how many Tisch waitlists and how many they accept?
