Any Regular Decision transfers accepted yet?

@ajw14f Thanks! I finally got my acceptance email, but Sunday night I got the official confirmation: admitted! I’m so happy! Hopefully I get my FA package ASAP, though, because that will ultimately determine where I end up sadly. Cost of living in Boston and San Diego is slightly more affordable. Praying LMU gives me enough to help!

@sabu15 Congrats!!! I’m so excited for you! Are you from California if you don’t mind my asking? And to answer your question I haven’t talked to admissions about changing my major since being admitted. I’m still debating whether I want to keep the one I have haha.

@justamuggle Thank you; that’s so sweet of you!!! I’m excited for us, too! Yeah, I was born and raised in LA. Have you heard from your other schools or did you already commit to LMU? And where in LA are you now? I’m on the Westside but trying to move a little closer to campus. (I feel like the Google campus and the booming tech industry in Venice have really driven prices up by campus; I’m a bit nervous from what I’ve seen so far on Craigslist.)

@sabu15 I’m in the Valley. I haven’t committed, and I also haven’t heard from my other choices yet. I spoke with admissions and they were okay with me holding off on committing for a few days. All of the waiting has made me want to go with LMU and I most likely will. I think I may want to get housing on campus. I’m going to try to check out the campus this weekend though

@justamuggle campus housing is so expensive, but if you can afford it, it’s obviously going to help you transition better. I can’t afford it, and I also would have nowhere to go during the summer, so off-campus will have to work pending my FA. I go to Pierce now. Are you transferring from Pierce or Valley by any chance? And have fun visiting! Hopefully the weather warms up just a little. I was by campus last weekend and it was perfect weather. Re: your decision…for me personally, the Jesuit factor is important and LMU is where I felt I belonged. I’m obviously biased, but I doubt anyone would disagree it really is an amazing school. I am hoping you get into all your schools (especially USC) and I think you’ll make a good decision if you have options.

@sabu15 That’s awesome that you go to Pierce ,I’m transferring from Pierce too! I take classes at Valley as well. I still don’t know the exact prices of housing, but the estimate they gave me was less than what I found around the area. Have you decided where you want to go yet?

@justamuggle Whoa that’s awesome! Were you at Transfer/UCLA/CSUN day at Pierce two weeks ago? Yeah, housing is ALWAYS less than what they say in the COA because they only calculate for 9 months and they go off average prices in the entire city, I believe. And no, not yet. They told me FA award would be ready today at the latest…but nothing yet and my deposit at USF is due in a few hours. I’m going to have to make a $300 decision very quickly.

@sabu15 I wasn’t at the Transfer day. Also, the COA thing makes sense now lol. Did you ever great your FA award yet, and have you decided where you are going ?

@justamuggle Oh ok. I was looking for any LMU people that day haha. I found a Pepperdine transfer, but everyone else at Pierce seems to be going to UC’s. I got my FA award from LMU and it was heartbreaking. I’m appealing it, but the FA counselor didn’t seem very confident. I wasn’t shocked by the grant, but rather the low institutional amount. I’m fine taking out private loans, but I don’t know if I can take out THAT much. I should get my FA package from USD this week, so hopefully they can offer me more. Any update on your decision?

@sabu15 I was also surprised by the low amount. Most of the school’s I applied to were private, but at the time I was thinking about what each school had to offer rather than the price. I am also appealing for various reason, I hope my request is considered because I would love to attend this fall. I haven’t heard back on the other two in my top yet, I got accepted at a public and private OOS University but I’m not really considering it.Right now its between LMU or a few CSU’s. I didn’t apply to any UC’s,I reject passing up UCLA lol

@justamuggle I was originally only applying to CalStates and UC’s, but after many spreadsheets and discussions, I realized private school was a better option for my major (especially once I found out how hard it is to get classes at some CalStates). It might cost more in the short run, but I think for me personally, it will pay off in the long run. USF gave me a very generous financial aid package, but I would have to quit my job. I was hoping LMU, with nearly double the endowment of USF, would provide a similar package, but they did not. I am still waiting on my USD award and the outcome of this appeal, but we’ll see.

Hi Guys! I just got accepted to LMU for the 2015-2016 year for transfer and I was wondering if there is a group on Facebook for us and how everyone is doing housing and all of that? I got in for Communication Studies as a Sophomore. Let me know I am so confused!!! Thank you!

@tararuff Congrats!! I was accepted for Communication Studies also. Plan on commiting? If I commit I’m sure we’ll be at orientation and etc together. I don’t know if there’s a Facebook group. Haven’t thought about it, since I don’t have Facebook. Try searching for it? LMU should also have some info on the site they send you to via a welcome/acceptance email. Did you receive that? Also, I’ll be living off campus and still need to look into housing, as I’m not sure if I’m attending yet.

@tararuff Still deciding, but I’ll be living off campus. LMU has an off campus room search you can check out. Also I couldn’t find a facebook page, but I was just looking for Class of 2017, so I don’t know about any new student Facebook page "/

@sabu15 what’s the link for the off campus housing info?

Congrats to you both too!! @jabeauty @sabu15 I am still deciding right now as I am still waiting on USC Annenberg! I will probably commit to LMU though seeing as I won’t hear from USC until mid July. Do you know who you guys are rooming with and all of that?

@tararuff I’ve been waiting on USC Annenberg too but I’m feeling LMU so much more, even if I do get into USC. I don’t know my housing situation but since I’m at a 95% chance of commiting to LMU by Monday, I’m definitely trying to get it together asap.
