Hey guys, im in the same boat as every one else (for the most part) been deferred since feburary blah blah blah...I am wondering has ANYONE who has been deferred, recieved a rejection letter as of yet or know anyone that has? Also for you Umich admission gurus, any idea on the percentage of seats that remain open? (speculation is always welcome)

Premier,

Don't bother probing into the freshman admissions process; the transfer process is rather different.

Good luck.

i take your point but i do hope you realize that the amount of freshmen admitted along with the freshmen competition directly effects the amount of transfer spots available, so actually my point in asking is quite valid.

Premier,

You applied for THIS year, correct? If so, what class are you trying to enter? '08? 09'? You need to be worried about THOSE classes, not '10.

Really? I was told the amount of transfers they accept this year has everything to do with this years incomming freshman class. That info came from an adcom...I am 08 but i dont get what that class would have to do with me, please explain?

lol, premier is right, transfer students for the class of 09 have to be worried about the class of 10, i was told the same thing by my transfer admissions counselor. And to premier, stop being so obsessive over Umich!! this is like the millionth post i have seen of you asking around about deferred applicants lol...Ok im exagerating, but just as badly as you want to go to michigan, myself and others are on the same boat, and i seriously think this isnt the end of the world. If i dont get into michigan, i'll just apply next year to UCLA which is a much better school than crappy ann arbor!! :-)

That is very, very odd guys. Maybe this year they are taking that into consideration because of the housing renovations? Usually, they would think of you as replacing a student that has dropped, transferred, etc. from the class that you are wishing to enter. Anyone...HOEDOWN...care to explain why they would look at transfers this way?

Im not so sure actually, cuz i remember she mentioned something about "We have little space available since we have a 96% retention rate, but we must know how many applicants we accept this year vs how many will actually come to the school and thats how we are going to base our decision on availability." So uh, i guess its the class of 10 + transfer availability or something

hey mojo,

thanks for the senseless rambaling, but let me remind you real quickly the purpose of college confidential...to provide insight, speculation, and information about anything to do with college period...If you think that i care that you believe my asking questions is irrational, i find that funny..and by the way yes i have posted a few times about this but believe it or not is has a lot do with my future..sorry to say thats important to me..and for the record UCLA is not better then UMICH, on any level, sorry buddy keep dreaming.

lol!! if you wanna keep thinking that Umich is the best school just because they rank higher then you are the one thats dreaming! because rankings are just numbers!!! and i'll tell you which level UCLA is better than Umich, location :p u cant argue with me on that one...

ps. i know what the purpose of college confidential is, but i think your taking the "insight" to a level beyond what its meant to be

sorry, diddnt realize you could determine that for me. Also i have looked at several boards including "the abuse by the university of michigan" in which you posted in at least 20 times, all complaining that you wanna know your answer.. guess what i feel the same way, how bout you ask what you want, and ill do the same since after all this is what this board is for..k thanks buddy

does anyone know when you find out if you have been accepted of rejected after a defferal

Studyhard - The date that one poster brought up was April 15th. I'm guessing that they will let you know this week, by the 15th, or else you are getting out of "mid-April", which is when Michigan said they would notify deferred applicants.
