Any Reputable Schools I Can Get Into???

Hey guys, I am looking to get into ANY really reputable schools, particularly schools on the coast (east and West not south). I am in Fairfax County, VA at Chantilly High School(top 100 in nation), our grading system is all effed up. 100-94 is an A, 93-90 is a B+, so on and so forth. My GPA is around mid 2's with 2 honors in the past, 2 AP's now(Us History and English), and AP Gov and AP Enviornmental next year. I just took the SAT's ill post my scores as soon as I get them. I play football, I am apart of DECA (chapter officer and district president), and play rugby as well. I do a bunch of community service believe it or not. What schools do you think is ideal for me, that has a high reputation. Thanks. (and yes I have already been to many sites...i.e theu.com, princetonreview,collegeboard.com....) Thanks.

You could maybe consider Virginia Tech. It depends on your intended major. Your GPA is very low for a "reputable" school. I say look at schools around the #75 mark on USNews.

Thanks, I do understand that my gpa is low, I just took a look at my transcript and if I were to have been on a national average grading scale...100-90...then my grades we be MUUCH higher, considering I have many (+) next to my grades. I intend on getting some more credits, and my major is business or marketing.

don't colleges recalculate your gpa anyways?
or is it just recalculated on a 4.0 scale, not what's considered an A?

Any "reputable" school is going to be turned off by a gpa in the mid-2's unless your class rank is high. For instance, my school has a similar grading system as your school; 100-93=A, 92-85=B, 84-77=C.... People at my school with gpa's in the low 3's with SAT scores in the 1800's were rejected from OSU, which is ranked 57 by US News. Your class rank is a better indication of where you can get accepted. Hopefully, your in the top half of your class, because otherwise, getting into a top 100 school will be difficult. Also, go to your guidance counselor and ask him/her where students with your profile from your school typically get accepted.

I would look at the University of Connecticut (slight reach to reach), Temple University, Drexel University, American University, Florida International, and maybe out west look at Univ of Oregon (slight reach) and some of the Cal State Universities (like Fullerton or Long Beach, but not San Diego), and maybe Evergreen State University.

With the exception of Evergreen State, I know that every one of these schools has a pretty good business program. (You'll have to look up Evergreen state on your own).

Best of success.

Thanks a lot I appreciate it...I would definitely like to check out some of the west coast schools like the cal state schools, for instance fresno state, yet I heard some negatives about the quality of life from theu.com. I still dont worry too much about that but I do wish it had a really good quality of life.

Why not stay instate? VA has such wonerful state schools. Why not try GMU, or Christopher Newport, and then if your gpa improves, transfer instate to V-tech, or JMU?

Check out Temple and Drexel in Philadelphia. Indiana University of Pennsylvania is also a good school if you want something smaller.
