I got the idea for this thread from the swim team thread...
I was wondering if anyone here ran track, and if so what event and what was your best time?

Well, I'm more of an XC runner. Track is too short--even the 2 mile. I'd probably do better in XC if we ran 6ks or 8ks. But yeah, I've been injured the last two years, so I figure this year is the year. Indoor track starts next week!

My son (hs junior) ran 16:07 for 5K cross country. 10:00 Friday in his first 3200 indoor- crowded field/poor conditions. He is trying for sub-4:20/sub 9:30 outdoor this spring. 1:16 half marathon.

400 m - 0:56
800 m - 2:26
1600 m - 5:52

tsk. tsk mike lets not lie now, 5:52, lets be reasonable

400 m - 0:56
800 m - 2:26
1600 m - 5:52

Someone's lying a little bit.. tsk tsk

200 m - 1:01
100 m - 0:38

It's my first year to do school/high school track & I'm on JV but she said that she might possibly move me up mid-season

hmmm.... tsk tsk yourselves, i listed my fastest times

400 m - is always between that and 1:08
800 m - is usually around there
and 1600 ranges from 5:52 to 6:50

and skylarsky, work on yourself before accusing ppl of lying

1 minute for 200 meters SUPER SLOW
and 0:38 is slow on the 100 meter also, ppl at my school run the 100 in around 12 seconds and 200 m in about 25

i'm sure other ppl on here agree that these times i have are not unrealistic (these times i have aren't even fast at all, competitive ppl around my area run the mile in 4:30)

hey.. if your telling the truth.. congrats.

yeah, michaels times are accurate... 1:01 definitely =400m time, not 200, unless you did it on crutches or something... I'm a sr (female), who doesn't run track now, but I ran through 9th grade. my fastest 1600 then was 6:00. too bad I had to quit... I could've been decent. ran everything from 400-3200, and did both lj and tj (qualified for districts in all).

skylarsky- would you like to explain 1. why your times are ridiculously slow, and 2. why half of your 200m time is faster than your 100m time?

Any other runners who would like to run in college?

Heh, for the college i want to go to (US Air Force Academy) running is not optional, its mandatory, but i don't really want to do it as a sport, like in track.

I'm a OK sprinter, but have good agility (i'm fast at starting and stopping)

I run the mile in 5:54.

100m: 11.88
200m: 29.31 (lol)

I run indoor/outdoor track and sprinter is my event.
1 mile- 6:52
400 m - 1:18
800 m - 2:47

You guys must be super fast. I'm in my 2nd year, and I definitely don't plan to continue in college...

1600- 4:21
800- 1:57
5k(XC)- 16:01

Gtown09, I sent you a PM.

Damn gtown, that's crazy.
I've been hurt for parts near the beginning of every season I've ever run, I have one leg shorter than the other and enormous calf muscles, which cause mad injury problems. Anyways, enough with the excuses, these are my sophomore year times:
1600 - 4:59
800 - 2:14

I run XC too, but I was injured for the entire 2004 season.

I really can't stand track, I'm not sure if i'll run this spring. I definately don't want to run in college.

5K (xc)- 19:31
3200m- 11:52
1600m- 5:34

Did you make it mistake there skylarsky?
100m - 13.9
200m - 28
8th grade track...slow

I run track...the 400m

My time usually is between 50-51s.

400 m - 0:25
800 m - 1:15
1600 m - 3:25
