Has anyone received notification about merit scholarship finalist status ("Richmond Scholars" or "science scholars") from U. of Richmond yesterday or today? Everybody thought another group of announcements was going to be sent yesterday or today, but nobody seems to have any news...

My daughter heard last week that she will be interviewing for an Artist Scholar version of the Richmond Scholars, and she will be interviewed March 20th to 22nd. We had thought that she would be an extremely likely candidate for the Science Scholar, and she did not even submit the two-page Artist Scholar application, which is required according to the web site (but she did submit a DVD of her playing the piano). She wrote on her application that she intends to major in physics and/or chemistry. Her scores are: SAT I:790/800/750 and SAT II: 800/800/800 (Math II/chem/physics), and she has completed about 30 semester hours of college science courses through organic chemistry with straight A's.

Thanks, pafather. That was very helpful. Your daughter certainly sounds like a perfect candidate for science scholar! She must be outstanding in music too.

There was news (from someone who had contacted admissions this week) that some more Richmond Scholar finalists were going to be announced this week, but all has been quiet on the Richmond forum. Maybe the selection committee has just been very busy. Apparently they received over 3,200 applications for the 50 full-tuition scholarships. That's amazing. Congratulations to your daughter! Obviously they regard her as a top, top candidate and want her there very much. Maybe they thought the music scholarship would speak to her inner passion or something.

Please do post again if you hear of anyone who received finalist notification this week. Thanks.
