I am currently making my last minute application decisions. I am a business major transferring from a great CC.
I have a 3.7 GPA, no SAT score/ low ACT from HS, EC: PTK, Investment club, deans honors list, volunteer work and work experience in real estate.
I have applied to my original choices: UCB, UCLA, USC, NYU.
Are there any else I should consider? (preferably recognized programs) I know Ivys are a stretch but I am just rethinking if I should just go for it and add some other schools. “If you don’t ask the answer is always no” right?
Please share if you know any business programs/ great schools, I have overlooked and have a shot at.
UCI, SDSU?
Right now you have no matches and no safeties - you need more universities for your list.
Then think in terms of budget - what can your parents afford?
UPuget Sound has a strong business school, as well as Chapman.
You may want to add UOregon, WWU, UNM - UWashSeattle for another reach, depending on your budget.
Re NYU, you are applying to Stern? If so just to check you are aware it is extremely hard as they give preference to internal NYU transfers? (They even state “Nearly all of our available space is given to applicants who are already students at NYU”). It’s probably about as much of a long shot as an ivy at this stage.
I don’t know details about transferring into business at the other colleges on your list, but they are all competitive ones. Agree you should have a couple of matches and safeties. Have you considered Fordham?
I applied to other safety UCs and TAGed UCSB. I am also in a TAP program for UCLA and LMU. My CC is known for having the largest transfer to UCLA and USC. There are also several students who transfer to NYU, however it is more competitive.
