Any schools still accepting applications?

I screwed up and I'm looking for options. I'm a NM finalist, so I know University of Oklahoma is still recruiting finalists and accepting applications. Are there any others out there?

Look for universities with rolling admission.

Sometime around May 5 or 6 you should be able to go to the National Association of College Admission Counselors website where they post an updated list of colleges and universities with open spaces for fall admission for incoming freshman and transfer students. I don’t think the list gets published until sometime around those dates because the colleges are waiting for the May 1 deadline for admission offer responses from their applicants. If there is a current list, I couldn’t find it. [NACAC Homepage](http://www.nacacnet.org/Pages/default.aspx)

Here’s one list of late and rolling admission schools

[Late & Rolling Deadline Schools](Late Deadline Schools: Finding one and getting in with a great college essay)

What about your home-state public U? Are they still looking for a few more NMF to beef up their reputation?

Clemson University’s final deadline is May-01

Hi!

I was just checking out happymom’s link to late/rolling admission schools and can tell you that there are three on the list, that are colleges in MN, that would be good schools, one a great school. I grew up in Mn and so am familiar with the reputations of Mn schools. they are Hamline, Augsburg (both located in the Twin Cities!) and St.Olaf (Northfield Mn, same town as Carleton).I have heard, anecdotally, that University of Mn Morris is now a LAC with rolling or late admissions.

One other suggestion I have for you is to check out the “Colleges that Change Lives” web-site as some of those colleges are on rolling admissions and you really couldn’t go wrong with any or those!

Hang in there and best of luck to you.

University of Arizona takes applications until May 1st. They also have nice NMF awards. Call for deadline on that.

Michigan State University
Pennsylvania State University- University Park

Both universities listed above are accepting applications still.

I just got an email from Hofstra saying they’re still accepting applications.

Thanks for all the replies. I looked into a few and I think I’ll apply to ASU. My parents are unable/unwilling to contribute anything at all and taking out a huge loan doesn’t seem that attractive so I’m trying to search for schools that will basically pay for me.

Applied to a bunch of schools three months ago, but straight rejections and acceptances with little to no aid didn’t leave me with much of an option. Pretty sure my state university will admit me, but I’m looking for a way out.

If you are in a situation where you need to come up with a full-ride, you may want to take a gap year while you do more research and reapply.

Here are two older threads about the full-ride search:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/148852-what-ive-learned-about-full-ride-scholarships.html</a></p>

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/291483-update-what-i-learned-about-free-ride-scholarships.html</a></p>

Another trick you can try is to go to the College Board “Matchmaker” : [College MatchMaker - Type of School](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

Complete the questionnaire, using all of your preferences (size, location, majors, activities, etc.) but under “Admissions,” select a high rate of acceptance (try “More than 75% accepted”) and grades & test scores that are lower than your own.

When you hit “Results,” you’ll probably get a list of colleges that not only will meet your preferences but also will probably have rolling admission or a deadline that hasn’t passed, since the less selective colleges often have later deadlines. In addition, if your grades and test scores are well above the norm at these schools, you may be a strong candidate for merit money.

Keep in mind that this search function isn’t designed to operate in this way, so expect some flaws in the outcome. But it may nonetheless be a useful way to put some appropriate options on your radar screen that might not otherwise be there.

I think some of the Ca State Universities are still open for admission- don’t know for sure though.

If you had to, you could always enroll in a school you got accepted to (and unfortunately take on the debt) and then transfer out!

All California State Universities are now close for first time freshman admissions. Closing dates of ones that were still open was Mar. 1 [CSUMentor - Apply Online - Status Report](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

where do you live? UTD gives full rides to national merit finalists…application deadline is july 1 i think

As a NM finalist, a gap year with some meaningful activities should give you an extra boost to reapply next year. I did it and trust me, it ain’t so bad. I know the economy isn’t a job-seekers market right now but if you put your mind to it I’m sure a kid as smart as you can find a way to make some extra money to finance college.

Neethus, If aid is important, I wouldn’t plan on transferring. NM scholarships are generally for freshman, not transfers. It can be harder to secure good $ as a transfer.

Check out Pitt.

St. Andrews in Scotland and many other European institutions are still accepting applications
