Thank you for any adivce given.

i don't think departmental awards count on apps... but other than the sat's good chance

Where should my SAT's be to give me a decent chance (20-25%) on ED?

um... if you can get 2000 ur around 20-25%... 2100 and ur upto like 50% ed

You have a decent chance with the scores you have!

I'll be a freshman next year in CU's College of Arts and Sciences (The college you'll need to apply to), and I had a 1360 SAT (710 M 650 V) and a 620 Writing SAT II.

Your GPA is similar to mine, although the last person to go to an ivy (Cornell) from my school was 5 years ago, and we've sent only 1 person to Harvard in the school's history (Class of 1970). So it sounds like my school is less competitive. You will have more APs than I had simply because my school only offers three of them.

Your ECs are looking good. Be sure to get into some high leadership positions and I think you'll be set.

Yeah, so take your SATs over and see if you can raise them up. . . . but don't stress over them, because Cornell tends to look past numbers and looks more upon the overall strength of the applicant.

yeah, and writing about being a first generation college student could be a good essay.

Try a study program like "princeton review" for your SATs. You are not OUT of the running, but you would greatly improve your chances with higher scores.

being poor from kentucky probably helps; there's probably not a very large applicant pool there.

We have a very, very, very small applicant pool for college outside of in-state schools, Duke, Vanderbilt and Emory. At my school,we had about 50 kids from a class of approx. 400 go out of state.I think at Tufts 1 kid is from KY, 7 at Upenn, and I assume that very few KY residents were in Cornell either.

Regarding the SAT, I have read about the famed "Xiggie method" and I am going to try it for next year's June SAT. Hopefully, with his methods, I can get a higher score and join you at Cornell. Thanks for all the help guys.

your goal is 2400 :) just do your best
