Any shot at UCSB?

GPA:
W: 3.667
UW: 3.62

ACT: 31

E: 34, R: 31, M: 33, S: 27

Do I have a shot at U California-Santa Barbara?

bump (10 char)

yes, you have a good chance and try to apply early, i would think you would get in fairly easily as long as you were in-state, but out-of-state getting into UC's is MUCH harder from what ive heard

if you were in-state, i'd say you have a good chance of being accepted. since you're applying oos, you might want to retake the act: many would argue that test scores are of far greater importance at UC's than at other school's.

I know many with a higher GPA who were rejected this year, but it is the whole application that makes them accept or reject an applicant. Keep working hard to get good grades. I think their average accepted GPA is creeping up a bit the past two or three years so if yours is below the average posted on the UC website, then make sure the rest of your application shines. Take a rigorous courseload, lots of A-G classes, etc. Your test scores are excellent! Good luck.

i think you have a good chance..i got in with a 3.6 GPA and a 1710 on the SATs..but i heard out of state is a lot more competitive

You've also calculated your GPA through the UC system right?

You can't apply early for UCs.

I think you're pretty solid on UCSB, though. It's SO gorgeous.

you probably have a shot. I am always puzzled, though, why people want to go to a UC school out-of-state. The cost is about $45,000 per year!! For that kind of money you can go to a U where you have much smaller classes, more personal attention, etc. Or you could go to a less expensive school and still have tons of money left over to go to a fanatastic beach every year for spring break and summer vacation.
