I think you’re solid for either school with a particularly good shot at USC because of your good SATs, they really care about those. And your GPA is solid for either school. UCLA is just plain hard to get into OOS, but you have a good chance.

it seems like you could quite easily get into USC
UCLA, on the other hand, you may want to raise your scores a little, raise your CR to at least 700 and your math by a few points…

UCLA actually, despite the myth constantly spread here, accepts a larger percentage of OOS students than in state ones. They need the extra money they charge OOS kids, so if you’re willing to pay the $47K, I think you have a decent shot.

Having a 2100 would make you stronger at both schools.

You’re most likely able to get into USC than UCLA because for OOSer’s it seems to be even more competitive. Having at least a 2100 will make you seem competitive.

you should raise your scores because USC and UCLA choose more people from California- they don’t really like other states very much. Try to beef up your ECs and I say you have a really good shot at getting in!!

UCLA let’s in a higher percentage from OOS than from in state (28% vs. 22%) and USC is trying to lower it’s percent from CA. So much misinformation!

You’re going to get into at least one of those schools. I wouldn’t be surprised if you got into both. You’re SATs, GPA, awards, and ECs all look like the typical admit to those schools, even above average. Good luck

The myth being spread here that it is harder to get into UCLA as OOS is incorrect.

As hmom5 said, the reality is that OOS students who complete all eligibility requirements at UCLA are actually admitted at higher rates than in-state students, and here is proof:
