Chances for:
UCLA
USC

I think you’re solid for either school with a particularly good shot at USC because of your good SATs, they really care about those. And your GPA is solid for either school. UCLA is just plain hard to get into OOS, but you have a good chance.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/750122-hopeful-engineer-bad-science-grades.html

I think they are both high fits. If you get your SAT up, it will definitely help your chances.

Chance back

what score do u feel i need to get on my SAT to be more competitive?

Good shot at both, probably better at USC.

You should be fine for both schools with those stats.

I like your chances for both, although being out of state doesn’t help for UCLA. Be sure to have safety schools in case.

Please chance back:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/752527-what-my-chances-will-chance-back.html

it seems like you could quite easily get into USC
UCLA, on the other hand, you may want to raise your scores a little, raise your CR to at least 700 and your math by a few points…

USC match, UCLA reach. Very selective schools but you have a realistic shot at both!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/739244-please-chance-me-western-schools-cmc-occidental-etc.html

USC-middle match
UCLA-higher match

you’re pretty good.
thanks for chancing me

match for both! but more likely into USC than ULA

UCLA actually, despite the myth constantly spread here, accepts a larger percentage of OOS students than in state ones. They need the extra money they charge OOS kids, so if you’re willing to pay the $47K, I think you have a decent shot.

Having a 2100 would make you stronger at both schools.

Both - High Match
Why not Virginia Tech?

Both are about 60% chances. If you raise the SAT, chances will go up of course.

Note: I have been told that these percentages are conservative.

Chance me back!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/746446-chance-me-colleges-i-will-chance-back.html

You’re most likely able to get into USC than UCLA because for OOSer’s it seems to be even more competitive. Having at least a 2100 will make you seem competitive.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/752794-chance-me-ill-chance-you-back-less-than-30-mins.html

you should raise your scores because USC and UCLA choose more people from California- they don’t really like other states very much. Try to beef up your ECs and I say you have a really good shot at getting in!!

good luck

UCLA let’s in a higher percentage from OOS than from in state (28% vs. 22%) and USC is trying to lower it’s percent from CA. So much misinformation!

You’re going to get into at least one of those schools. I wouldn’t be surprised if you got into both. You’re SATs, GPA, awards, and ECs all look like the typical admit to those schools, even above average. Good luck

here are some statistics for UCLA

chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/750483-chances-top-schools.html

The myth being spread here that it is harder to get into UCLA as OOS is incorrect.

As hmom5 said, the reality is that OOS students who complete all eligibility requirements at UCLA are actually admitted at higher rates than in-state students, and here is proof:

Fall 2009 admissions statistics
**CA residents: 48,808 applicants, 9,920 admitted = 21.66% Rate
OOS: 5,757 applicants, 1,548 admitted = 26.89% Rate
**[Profile of Admitted Freshmen, Fall 2008 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/Adm_fr/Frosh_Prof09.htm)

Highly qualified OOS students who are rejected usually have not completed the very specific UC requirements of ALL A-G requirements (VPA is the one most often missed) and the SAT or ACT plus two SAT subject tests in two different areas. [University of California - Admissions](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman.html)

10tlala, you may be confusing USC with the public UC system. USC is a private university that “likes other states” very much. About 1/2 of their admits are from outside California. http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/0910/FreshmanProfile2008v3.pdf
