Great shot. It's pretty much up to you to either blow it by writing a cliche essay or asking the wrong teachers/etc. for recs--or to just be plain unlucky.

That said, you could probably retake the SAT and try to get 2200+. Also, would not hurt to get your SAT II scores above 750. (Just wondering, you took Math Level II, right?) You could also show balance by taking a science SAT II. None of these things are more important than essays for you since your stats are already way up there.

Good luck.

Don't retake anything above a 700 for SAT II, from what I've heard this just makes adcoms scratch their heads and doesn't really make you look too much better.

Your academics are far from mindblowing, but you have incredible/substantive EC's and are from an underrepresented U.S. state, which helps. It comes down to recs and essays, really.

i wouldn't say your academics are far from mind blowing. i would say your ec's aren't very special, or interesting in any way. they are good, but not great.

good luck!

I hope you don't mind my comparing you to myself, but your ECs seem to be fairly similar to mine(I was also on the newspaper in different capacities during my four years of HS, only I served as the EIC during my last year), and your academics are a little worse (you should really try to go for all As during your senior year). I'd say that you have a decent shot, so you should write a stellar essay (if you want to read mine, message me) and make sure that you get the best recommendations from teachers. Aside from that, it will all come down to the interview, which you should prepare for as much as possible.

Btw, did you receive any local/regional/state/national awards during your four years on math? The admission officers like to see commitment, but they like seeing concrete results even more.
