I live in NJ and really want to do something with special needs children. Something lasting the entire summer. I am willing to go far as long as it isn't very expensive. I would like to stay more than a week. Does anyone have any ideas?

I am a rising senior and am 17.

Thanks.

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this thread but, I am looking for summer programs.

Would doing something like this count as leadership?

There is a camp of special needs children in central PA called Camp Victory. I volunteer there, but I have connections as my brother goes to one of the camps. You could email them and ask them if there is anything you can do. No particular camp lasts all summer, but the camp is in almost constant use in the summer. I’m not sure if there is room for housing volunteers though so you may be out of luck.

There’s a camp located in Ridgewood, NJ called Camp Sunshine and it’s a camp for disabled kids. It’s only a day camp though, not overnight or anything. But it’s all summer. You sign up as a counselor to be with a disabled kid. You can go to camp-sunshine dot org and look for more information. I went last summer for a week and I do their winter program as well.
