Any speculation on how UCs admitting more students might affect admissions into engineering schools?

I doubt there is much information on how this will affect individual school program, but any thoughts are appreciated.

I don’t think that this will affect the top schools much at all. Berkeley’s Haas Business School apparently said that it wouldn’t affect them whatsoever. My guess is that there will be slightly more spots opened at the lower UC’s, particularly in off the wall majors - or they’ll be more lenient towards people who don’t have all of their requirements completed, have a lower GPA, etc.

This is all speculation, though. I have no real clue, and neither will anybody else.

This I think is more for getting students into schools like Merced, not necessarily impacted and very competitive majors at schools like Berkeley and UCLA.

I was personally told it would have no affect on Haas (as an example), simply because they don’t have space for more people … even though they’re building a brand new building for themselves. I would presume the same holds true for similarly sized and competitive majors where they’re already denying far more people than they admit.

Thank you for the input!
