Any Speechies here?

I'm a speech geek. Is anyone else? I'm in duo and our piece is "The Original Last Wish Baby". We tied for first in the district at littles...so we'll see all you Ohio state qualifiers at Medina...Bigs are this weekend and we're hoping to go to Nationals! What about you guys?

I'm sorry, but debate is where it's at.

^word. debate rocks

Dramatic Interpretation, baby. Flying solo all the way.

RANT ALERT

Speech kids. Its ironic that one of the Code of Honors is "Humility". The reason I quit speech (Great Speeches) was the fact I couldn't deal with the fake happiness and how its always someone else's fault that they personally did bad ("The judge didn't know what he was doing.") Athletes at least half own up to their own skills. It takes skill to conform.

There is nothing better sometimes but to speak and use those those speech skills to impress your judge. I've learned to demand attention from Speech.

I just can't deal with the kids.

Hahaha, yea the super speechies are a little....demented. I don't really like debate...I've never had any experience with it, but if it's anything like extemp....never in my life!

I love actual debating, but I hate the amount of research that goes with it (I was in LD). Plus, tournament hours just irritate me, and the lack of time on Saturday to do homework made it impossible for me to continue debate.

What are the biggest speech and debate competitive organizations?

I did speech once. It was for districts and it was actually nice. It was domestic extemp. There were only three people in my category there. The top three went to regionals so... we all went. But my speech had the most time and the other people weren't that good, but i still got in third place. But it was fun anyway.

But Debate is more my thing. Speech is more for Drama people.

SaveD, I'm not sure what you mean...the National Forensic League is the actual "speech organization"...but do you mean like districts or states or something in between? I've heard California is a HUGE speech state.
Today was the first day of Bigs...we arrived at the school at 3:30, and got to leave at 10:30...and guess what? THE WHOLE SEVEN HOURS CONSISTED OF TWO PRELIMINARY ROUNDS!!!! and tomorrow there are 2 more prelims, then semi, then final. GUH!

Wooo! My Partner And I Are District Champions! We're Going To Vegas, Baby, Yea!!!!!!

ld debate. but i'm thinking of original oratory for senior year or something (taking it easy then, lol).
