Hi, I am applying to Science Po Reims and I am wondering if anyone can give me some feedback of their experience there. I talked to one person from the forum who is a current Science Po student, and his feedback was not positive. He maintained that the academics are sub par (boring classes), there is no good night life, campus is too small, and bad TAs. I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else thinks the same? I really want this school to be good, academically speaking, as well as general college life (nightlife, activities, culture, fun, etc). If anyone who actually went there, or who is currently there can give me feedback I would really appreciate it.
PS: I’m american if that matters, from New York, so I’m pretty used to nightlife and things to do. I would actually love to go to the paris campus, unfortunately, my french is not good enough,so I’m hoping reims is a good alternative.
Knowing how boring a city like Reims is, I definitely wouldn’t choose this campus, but if it’s the only area in the world you’re interested in, you should definitely apply there.
One of my good friends studies at the Sciences Po Reims campus and all I’ve heard from her is good news. Everytime she calls she has great stories about the school, the classes and her friends. She loves the coursework and her new friends-- she said they’re the most interesting/ enriching people she’s met-- most speak at least two languages and have interesting backgrounds.
Additionally, she said the city is a great place to study because its interesting, but not nearly as distracting as Paris.
She even said that the woman who owns the boulangerie across from the campus gives the students free bread and pastries from time to time.
From her descriptions I wouldn’t imagine it to be anything less than extraordinary.
Reims is cool and pretty, not far from Paris (less than an hour). The campus is small but comfortable and much better than “regular” French universities’. The French students there are hand-picked. Because it’s smaller than Paris, rents are less expensive, and you can find “une colocation” (a flatshare…) fairly easily if you start looking in June/July. You should go yourself though (don’t rent sight unseen).
