Any Students Currently Attending Lehigh??!!! I Have Questions!!!

Hey! I am a prospective student planning on applying to lehigh U, I have alot of questions pertaining to the University as a whole. So if you're a student or even an alum could you possibly answer some questions?

Also, anyone who wants to ask questions, ask away !!!!!

My Questions:

I have low SAT scores (M 650 V 550 W600) and a mediocre GPA(3.40 rank 30%) do i still have a shot?

Being a minority how will that affect me at lehigh? Are people judgemental?

Is the biological sciences program at lehigh strong?

Lastly, by me being accepted into the Diversity Achievers Program greaten my chances of being accepted ED?

ANYONE WHO HAS QUESTIONS ABOUT LEHIGH ASK AWAY!!!! HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL ASNWER..LOL

Anyone?!???!!!??!!

I'm not a student or an alum, but I'm familiar with the school. I can try to answer some of your questions.

Lehigh is trying to attract more minority students because they are trying to make the campus more diverse. If you are not from NJ or PA, your chances go up as well because you would add geographic diversity.

You have a chance, although I'm sure you know that Lehigh is still a long-shot for you. If you have proven leadership or a passion, that will help a lot. I believe biology is indeed strong at Lehigh. People tend to think of Lehigh as only an engineer school but it offers a full range of majors in the CAS. I believe biology is one of the more popular non-engineering, non-business majors.

As for the judgmental part of your question, I would rely only on minorities who currently attend the university. Alumni won't know the current status on campus, and non-minority current students won't have the same perspective. I suggest that you spend time on campus--either before or after admissions decisions are out -- and talk to other minorities to get their opinion before making a decision. There has been a lot of effort recently to improve the environment for minorities and women, but only you can determine your own comfort level.

thank u so much momwaitingfornew. Yes, I do know its a long shot but I am applying early and really anticipating a decision hopefully in my favor. Thanks for getting some of my questions answered!

anyone else?

i go to lehigh. most of the stuff you are worrying about is just a state of mind. it depends on what you think diversity is...i think that we have a wonderful diversity of intellect and viewpoints, which is pretty much all i was looking for in diversity.
my SAT's were worse than yours college_craze. i took the ACT too though, which was higher.
just make lehigh know who you REALLY are, show that you really want to be here, and they'll put alot of consideration into your app.

thanks for replying kingstrackstar, you've really put my mind at ease with some of the issues that have been brought to my attention. Are you a minorty? and what exactly did yu do to better yor chances of getting in...( interview, early deicison, visit)? thanks so much!
