Any students going to NU from the Baltimore/Washington area?

My S is thrilled to have been admitted to the Medill School but doesn't know anyone from this area (Ellicott City, MD) who is going to NU. Perhaps some of you can connect before you head to the midwest, particularly since NU is on the quarter system and almost all freshmen will have left for school for nearly a month before you start.

No way! I’m from Clarksville MD and I got into Weinberg :)

Terrific! Do you go to River Hill?

No I actually go to a private school in DC even though I live like 5 mins away from River Hill!

Did your S get invited to the Wildcat Special Days thing and if not, when is he planning on visiting? NU is one of my top choices but I have to hear back from a couple of schools.

He’s going to Wildcat Day on April 26. He’s trying to decide between NU and another school, but is leaning toward NU.

Awesome! I got invited to the April 15-17 Wildcat Days so that’s probably when I’m going to attend. Does no one from your S’s school go to/has gotten into NU? Someone else from my grade has been admitted but I have yet to find out who it is.

He doesn’t know if anyone else applied, but no one else was admitted. He knows one person from his school who’s a junior at Medill.

By the way, there is this other girl I know from the Clarksville/ Ellicott (I think Clarksville) who is currently a Freshman at NU. It’s good to know that there are several people from this area at NU!

That’s good to know. There must be more acceptances from this geographic area, but you’re the only one who has responded. I’m sure both of you will meet more kids from this area when you attend Wildcat Days.

There are many students from mid-atlantic region.

^Read carefully.

Thanks. I realize that these are last year’s numbers but, hopefully, the numbers for this year are comparable. I’m from Chicago, but my son was born and raised in Maryland. If he decides to go to NU, I’m sure he’ll meet other students from DMV.

Lol @Sam Lee clearly I can’t add. Sorry about that :)

Would you mind sharing your child’s stats. My daughter is a junior at a high school in Montgomery County (MD) and is very interested in Medill. Thank you.

Junior at Northwestern here, went to River Hill for high school. The DC metro area (speaking generally) is very well represented at NU, and Howard county in particular does have a number of people here. There’s a handful from River Hill and a couple from Marriots Ridge and Centennial that I know personally.

Has anyone been invited to the get together for accepted students that’s supposed to be held in Chevy Chase on April 15?

@bjanda94. I got invited but I can’t go since I’m going to be at Wildcat Days lol

I got accepted to Medill and I live in Silver Spring, MD…going to NU on the 16th for Wildcat Days. About 95% sure I’ll be going to NU, but I gotta visit first. I know one or two other kids from my school that were admitted, and I have a friend that’s a freshman at NU and is in Medill. Hope to meet some of you guys at Wildcat Days!
