There is exactly one week before I take the SAT II US History.
I've been studying for a while now, but my practice scores on the Princeton Review, Kaplan tests, etc. have been really inconsistent and aren't very good.

For those who are studying or have already taken it, do you have any tips for studying for the test? I feel unprepared.

For books, I've been using REA Crash Course, Princeton Review, and Kaplan.

Thanks!

I would trust Kaplan and Princeton review, idk about REA. Average the practice scores, that’s my advice
On Kaplan and Princeton review I averaged around 750, and in May I got a 770 (I’m still retaking it in June because I signed up for it in advance…)

I was browsing around on similar CC threads, and the response for REA is kinda polarized. But a few people said that it was helpful and really thorough with some unnecessary info. I’ve never used any REA books myself, so I don’t know. But I’ve taken two Barrons practice tests and they’re not going well either. :P

have you taken APUSH? if you already have then you probably won’t need much more review.
i used the crash course book to review for the ap test and it was really helpful and easy to read. also, i’ve heard some of the sat questions come verbatim out of it.

if you can, get a copy of a released US history exam and take it to see how you’ll do. i’m not sure how accurate PR and Kaplan review books are for US history, so the real collegeboard exam is the best way to see how ready you are.

^how do we get a copy of a released US History exam?

It would be awesome if someone could find an old Collegeboard test! So far, all I have for legit practice are the Collegeboard practice questions (in the subject test handbook) and the 2 princeton review tests!

As for REA, I like it! It’s a very condensed review of basically everything you need to know! If you’re learning something for the first time, USE A DIFFERENT/MORE IN-DEPTH book. But if you’re in for a quick review, REA is AWESOME :D
