Hello,
I am an international student aspiring to become a materials science engineer. I have a 2250 on my sat and need a lot of merit based aid. Here is my list of colleges. Would someone please give me any opinion on the same or suggest some other good materials science colleges(undergrad) giving merit aid.
University of North Texas
South Dakota School of Mines and Tech
Wright State
Bama
University of Kentucky
International students are not eligible for institutional scholarships or financial aid at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. Keep in mind that the overall cost of a SD Mines education is relatively low. There are many international students on campus.
thanks! actually that was one of the reasons I added sdsmt to my list…
SDSM&T is an excellent STEM school. There’s a lot of Materials Science research going on. For a small university it wins a lot of research grant money.
Take a look at this website: http://best-engineering-colleges.com/materials-engineering.
Of the top 25 schools on the above list, the University of Tennessee offers the Volunteer Scholarship: http://onestop.utk.edu/volunteer-scholarship/. It may be worth your while to determine whether you, as an international student, could qualify to receive this. It also involves a deadline of application to UTK of December 1 for admission for the Fall 2016 academic year.
Another school is Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri: http://www.mst.edu/. It is reasonably priced; but I don’t know whether international students can qualify for scholarships, so that may require follow-up with the school.
