I know you probably get these all the time but maybe you could help me out. I’m a sophomore currently and I am captain of the speech and debate team and the opinions editor of my school newspaper which puts me in good positioning for editor in chief senior year. I’m in JSA and am forming a young democrats club. Also I applied for a leadership job (publicity manager) which I’ll hopefully get. I know none of these things stand out when applying to a great school; so the question is what opportunities are there out side of school that stand out… I also tried starting a mock trial team, but no teacher’s wanted to devote their time. Since I want to be a lawyer I’d like to do that too is there any outside way to compete in mock trial without a school team? Or if anyone who has done something like that would like to share a few pointers on how to get one off the ground? If I manage to get a mock trial team off the ground (get funds raised and us organized) is that a standout achievement for a top 25 school? I am interested in the law as well as politics and writing. I live in Los Angeles and I’m interested in a liberal arts college (my top choice right now would be CMC, Pomona too but that is even a bigger reach). Any suggestions would be great thank you, sorry for the long question.
